And Then They Were Two

As quiet as possible, Liverpool played themselves out of the title contention. It was neither loud nor explosive; it happened like a thief cometh in the night. Liverpool's title demise was quiet until Salah and Klopp took it upon themselves to make it loud. Of course, Jurgen Klopp is not the one for a quiet exit so this is not a surprise. And with Salah threatening fire and brimstone if he speaks, Klopp is guaranteed to bow out of Liverpool with a bang.

While Anfield is about to be set on fire, Arteta and his former boss will be quietly enjoying the drama as it unfolds. Once again, the coast is clear for the two to lock horns till the end. All I can say is, "May the best man win."

While at it, I kept on wondering why the best managerial jobs in the EPL are reserved for foreigners. It's no secret that most English players are technically limited. I guess their managers are struggling with that bug too. No wonder why three of the top four EPL teams are coached by Spaniards - the proponents of technical, possession based football in the last two decades.

But, back to the Salah scenario. I watched in anger as some silly pundits ran their filthy mouths about the Egyptian yesterday. I understand football now is more money than passion but it's disgusting to hear them calling for Liverpool to cash out on Salah ASAP. The very limited Henderson was nearly built a statue at Merseyside for running all over the pitch like a squirrel for a decade. If he hadn't chased after Arab money he would probably have a stand named after him before he retired. If Salah was English, they'd be talking about him being one of the all time greats and not some commodity for money making. Bunch of idiots.

And for the always feisty North London Derby, I say, "Bring it on." With Spurs chasing a seven point deficit to Villa, it will be double excitement for them if they dent Arsenal's title bid while keeping themselves in the top 4 runnings. Afterall, an average Spurs fan would rather go fight a lion in the wild than to watch Arsenal win another league title.
