MANCHESTER CITY vs. LIVERPOOL

MANCHESTER CITY es el actual líder de la tabla a pesar de haber pactado un empate a cuatro goles en un trepidante partido frente al Chelsea en la jornada anterior. Ya sabemos que es uno de los candidatos a volver a alzar la copa. Sin embargo, empieza a aparecer una oscura sombra sobre el juego limpio y el manejo de sus finanzas. Aunque falta mucho para que llegue un veredicto (y tal vez una sanción) a veces ésta situación influye en la estadía de los jugadores y en la llegada de algunos nuevos. Por eso, ya el entrenador ha sido consultado sobre su permanencia debido a éste punto. Pero Guardiola ha optado por hablar más del juego y su próximo rival, al cual ha considerado uno de los mejores desde que llegó al club ciudadano. De nuevo, ha reconocido la calidad de los hombres de rojo, con una delantera que está haciendo el trabajo y que deberá cuidarse en ésta visita. Las dudas sobre Haaland parece que se despejará hasta último momento. A pesar de que ha entrenado con el club luego de llevar un duro golpe en el primer partido con su selección nacional, el alta médica no se ha concretado, aunque desde Manchester son optimistas.

LIVERPOOL llega como visitante luego de una importante victoria frente al Brendfort. No dejó que las avispas los picaran y aseguraron los tres puntos gracias al igual número de goles. Eso hace que tengan ocho victorias y tres empates en los doce compromisos jugados, negándose a dejar la zona de Champions en el que están desde el 27 de agosto, en la jornada 3. Con apenas un punto de diferencia ante su rival de éste fin de semana, buscará echar mano de lo mejor que tiene desde el mismísimo arranque. Con el rol que se le está asignando a Mac Allister, el entrenador alemán buscará tener más claridad en la entrega y distribución del balón, así como un equipo compacto para negar los espacios a un rival que los busca de forma natural. El Liverpool fuera de casa no ha sido tan contundente en ésta temporada. En seis compromisos sólo ha podido ganar dos, y en terreno ajeno le propinaron la única derrota de la campaña. Así que se les han escapado nueve puntos cuando viaja.

La última victoria del Liverpool en el Etihad fue el 21 de noviembre del 2015, precisamente el primer año bajo la dirección de Klopp. Ganó 1-4. Desde entonces, se han vuelto a enfrentar siete veces y cuatro han sido victorias para el City y tres empates. De hecho, los reds se han quedado sin anotar goles en par de ocasiones. Éste es el mejor partido de éste fin de semana. ¡La lucha por el liderato!

NEWCASTLE vs. CHELSEA

NEWCASTLE fue sorprendido por el Bournemouth en la jornada anterior, acabando con sus siete partidos sin perder. Se ha estacionado en el séptimo lugar de la tabla, y piensa moverse ahora, aprovechando que en casa tiene una mejor estadística. Ha ganado cinco de los seis encuentros que ha disputado en ese escenario y buscará incrementar el porcentaje de efectividad. Lewis Hall no será elegible, mientras que Tonali enfrenta una larga suspensión. Esperamos ver seguramente a Almirón y Trippier, aunque no es seguro que veamos a Schar ni a Isak. Pero lo que ha llamado la atención en éstos días ha sido la posibilidad de ver cedidos en éste club a estrellas que actualmente pertenecen a la liga árabe, en vista a que la Premier League no se niega a que esas transacciones existan a partir de enero 2024. Las ventas de camisetas monocromáticas en St James Park se frotan las manos.

CHELSEA logró un empate en Stanford Bridge ante el Manchester City, dando señales de vida. Es posible que la pausa por las fechas FIFA puedan servirle para seguir optimizando el equipo, a pesar de que algunas de sus estrellas vengan con varias horas de juego y de viaje, como lo es el caso de los latinos, entre ellos, Caicedo. Luego de éste encuentro no podrá conservar la paridad en sus números, ya que actualmente tiene 4 victorias, 4 empates y 4 derrotas. La buena noticia es que se está viendo a Nkunku entrenarse de nuevo en las instalaciones de Londres, sin embargo, aún es prematuro hablar de fecha de retorno al terreno de juego en un compromiso. Mientras tanto, ¿conoces el nombre de Kvaraskhelia? Bueno, ese es el nuevo nombre que se suma a los rumores de contratación de éste Chelsea. Veremos si se concreta. Lo cierto es que necesia seguir buscando mostrar buen fútbol y que la plantilla muestre que no es sólo promesas. Vienen semanas complicadas, donde Manchester City y Newcastle es sólo el principio.

TOTTENHAM vs. ASTON VILLA

TOTTENHAM sufrió una dura derrota al visitar al Wolverhampton, lo cual significó su segunda caída consecutiva. Y es sobresaliente que no había perdido hasta entonces, por lo que ambas son las primeras derrotas de ésta temporada. Éso bastó para perder la cima, aunque aún queda cerca, a apenas un punto. La localía le favorece, donde tiene un 80% de victorias hasta ahora. Postecoglou, su entrenador, se ha mostrado contento con el desenvolvimiento que está logrando Bentancur en su retorno al terreno de juego, aunque admite que para competir y seguir haciendo un equipo más sólido en cada línea necesita hacer nuevos fichajes. Ya esa historia la hemos escuchado antes desde Londres. Actualmente está de cuarto lugar, a dos puntos del líder. Romero, Van de Ven, Perisic, Sessegnon, Maddison, Richarlison, Bissouma y Solomon son sólo algunas de las sensibles bajas que tienen los spurs para éste compromiso. Son y Kulusevski seguirán teniendo el peso de la ofensiva y que las líneas atrás le acompañen.

ASTON VILLA está en un envidiable quinto lugar donde muchos no lo imaginaban a ésta altura del torneo. Gracias a su victoria ante el Fulham 3-1 en la última jornada, ahora tiene esperanzas de ganar de nuevo y ubicarse en los puestos que dan el boleto a la Champions League. Para ésto, Unai Emery deberá tomar decisiones en su alineación inicial, sopesando el hecho de si coloca desde el principio a hombres como Mc Ginn y Bailey que vinieron tocados de sus encuentros internacionales. Quienes seguirán estando ausentes son Traoré, Mings y Buendía. Uno de los aspectos sobresalientes de los Villanos es que lideran la tabla de goles anotados desde afuera del área grande, lo cual es un buen recurso ante los partidos trabados y rivales bien ordenados. ¡Y vaya que lo intentan! Son el cuarto equipo que más disparos ha hecho en ésta temporada. Y esto hace de que sean el equipo más goleador hasta ahora, solo detrás del Manchester City.

EL JUGADOR

JAMES WARD-PROWSE llegó al West Ham United luego de varias campañas en el Southampton. Ahora, con 29 años de edad, aporta solvencia y experiencia a un club con más nivel deportivo, al menos éste año. Es uno de los responsables en la distribución del balón y la pelota parada. De allí que haya subido el promedio de pases por partido, ya que en toda su carrera en Inglaterra promedia 38 pases, y ahora en ésta campaña tiene un promedio de 46. Tiene dos goles y cinco asistencias, nada mal para contribuír a la causa. Volveremos a verlo en acción seguramente desde el inicio.

They have won five of the six games they have played at that venue and will be looking to increase their success rate. Lewis Hall will be ineligible, while Tonali faces a lengthy suspension. We expect to see Almiron and Trippier for sure, though it's not certain we'll see Schar or Isak. But what has attracted attention these days has been the possibility of seeing stars who currently belong to the Arab league on loan at this club, as the Premier League does not refuse to allow such transactions to exist from January 2024 onwards. Monochrome shirt sales at St James Park are rubbing their hands together.

CHELSEA managed a draw at Stanford Bridge against Manchester City, showing signs of life.
