Enero nos prometió volver a presentarnos un round más de la mejor liga del mundo. Así que tendremos partidos bastante interesantes en estas últimas horas del mes. HAblemos de tres de ellos y de un jugador que ha vuelto a la acción y los reflectores no tardan en apuntarlo. Por favor, acompáñame.

LIVERPOOL vs. CHELSEA

LIVERPOOL volvió a vencer de visitante, ésta vez frente al Bournemouth, llegando a extender su racha positiva a tres victorias, y sigue siendo el flamante líder del campeonato. Y ésto no es casualidad. Ha cuidado aspectos fundamentales que lo han llevado a esa privilegiada posición, y los números lo demuestran. Es el líder de victorias (10), líder de disparos (394), líder de disparos al arco (138), líder en porterías invictas (8, junto al Arsenal) y el equipo a quien menos goles le han convertido (18). Y en medio de éste momento brillante, el equipo, la gerencia y los fans lídian con la idea de que el entrenador teutón se retirará al final de ésta temporada. Muchos estarán tratando de disfrutar ésta buena racha y a la vez pensando en quién podría ser el reemplazante de éste singular entrenador. No será una tarea fácil, por lo que tal vez sean pocas las opciones que gusten y se estén barajeando. Habrán varias bajas en éste encuentro por motivo de salud, como las de Matip, Alexander-Arnold, Tsimikas, entre otros. Y sin mencionar a Salah, quien sigue en sus compromisos internacionales.

CHELSEA ganó su último derby en Londres frente al Fulham en el Stanford Bridge. Y por primera vez, lean bien, por primera vez en ésta temporada han podido ganar tres partidos seguidos. ¿Será ésto un indicio de un tan esperado engranaje del equipo que lo lleve a los puestos más altos? Y es que el Chelsea ha tenido un rendimiento muy por debajo de lo esperado. De hecho, ha ganado menos de la mitad de los puntos que se han disputado. Y por primera vez, léase bien, por primera vez en ésta campaña que han alcanzado el puesto nueve de la tabla, ¡y es el mejor puesto que han obtenido en ésta temporada 2023-24! Parece estar teniendo un mejor momento en las dos copas domésticas, donde en una ya está en la final, y en la otra busca avanzar a la quinta ronda en unos días. Por eso, el duelo en Anfield será un excelente termómetro de si ésta temporal mejoría es verdadera o si es un espejismo. Siguen estando fuera de la convocatoria varios nombres importantes, como James, Sánchez, Nkunku y otros.

El Liverpool está invicto en Anfield ésta campaña. Y esto es un dato no menor. Sin embargo, los últimos cinco partidos en Premier League de éstos dos equipos han terminado en empate. Esperamos que la balanza se incline de forma definitiva a alguno de los dos. No es la final de la Carabao Cup: es un partido de la Premier League.

ASTON VILLA vs. NEWCASTLE

ASTON VILLA no pudo pasar del empate a 0 frente al Everton en Goodinson Park. Esos dos puntos que dejó ir fue suficiente para que Arsenal y Manchester City lo superaran en la tabla de posiciones aunque con igual cantidad de puntos. Es que parece que no se pueden descuidar con éstos dos equipos que combatieron el título el año pasado. Sin duda, deben estar extrañando las ausencias de Pau en la defensa, quien aportaba mucha solvencia, al igual que Mings. Digne es otro de los ausentes en ésa importante fila del equipo, y es quien quizás sea el primero en volver a la acción, antes que los otros dos. El Villa Park de seguro contará con una asistencia máxima, y más aún con el factor de que el Aston Villa está invicto en casa.

NEWCASTLE tampoco pudo sumar puntos en la jornada anterior. Fue victima de los ciudadanos en una remontada sublime. Por eso sigue en caída libre. Desde el 16 de diciembre, cuando tuvo su última victoria, no ha hecho otra cosa que perder y ha pasado de la posición 6 a la 10, en la que está actualmente. Con la actuación que tuvieron el año pasado, quizás no esperaban estar en ésta posición ahora. Y ahora hay otro asunto en el cual ocuparse, como lo es las finanzas. Y ahora se ha empezado a comentar la posible salida de Joelinton para empezar a tener flujo de caja en verano. Pero también es posible que Almirón tenga otros equipos que quieran ponerle su camiseta, a pesar de que su actual entrenador ha dicho abiertamente de que quiere retenerlo. Vermos si el dinero será la razón de tomar una decisión u otra.

Ambos equipos estarán deseosos de sumar tres puntos, ya que lo necesitan para mantener sus expectativas. Pero atención con ésto: en los últimos seis encuentros en el Villa Park el Newcastle no ha anotado goles, llevándolo a apenas arañar un par de empates y perdiendo el resto de los encuentros. ¿Qué será de las urracas en ésta ocasión?

WOLVERHAMPTON vs. MANCHESTER UNITED

WOLVERHAMPTON empató sin goles en su última visita al Brighton. Está en el puesto 11 de la tabla, y deben estar muy contentos, en vista de que es la mejor posición que han alcanzado en el campeonato. Hee Chan es uno de los nombres que puede hacerle falta en un compromiso como éste. Y cuando miran al horizonte puede que lo extrañen más, en vista que los próximos rivales serán Chelsea, Brentford, Tottenham, Sheffield y Newcastle. Vaya que tendrán trabajo por hacer los lobos en las próximas semanas. Por eso, Cunha es quien está llamado a tomar las riendas de la delantera y poder ayudar a generar situaciones de peligro y anotar los goles necesarios. Lleva seis goles en su cuenta, cuatro menos que el asiático ausente. Neto es el principal servidor del equipo. Con sus ocho asistencias podrá seguir distribuyendo el juego para que el Wolverhampton pueda seguir mejorando su posición en el torneo.

MANCHESTER UNITED tuvo un muy buen partido frente al Tottenham en Old Trafford, pero no pasó del empate. En los últimos tres partidos en la liga ha obtenido los tres resultados posibles. Una de las materias pendientes que tiene es los goles anotados. Viendo los números, ha anotado solo 24 veces en todo el torneo. Sólo Everton, Crystal Palace, Burnley y Sheffield tienen un peor registro que el suyo. Además, en casa, han recibido más goles en contra que los que han anotado, teniendo un diferencial de goles de -3. Se siguen sumando los escándalos por indisciplina por parte de algunos de sus jugadores, y esto duele mucho a un club que se ha caracterizado por el protocolo y las normas elevadas para su plantel. Pero por ahora lo más importante es elevar es el nivel deportivo. Para algunos es sorprendentes que aún no haya venido un cambio de entrenador. Pero cada vez que hay un encuentro en Old Trafford no sabemos qué pasará luego del pitazo final.

Éstos dos ya se vieron las caras en la primera jornada de la temporada 2023-24, siendo la victoria para los diablos rojos. Wolverhampton tiene un 50% de victorias en casa ésta campaña, y el Manchester United tiene un 40% de victorias de visitante. ¿Quién aumentará su estadística favorable?
