Ah yes, the old trashtalk chestnut!!

McGregor was definitely highly skilled in this department. It's all bravado in my opinion and sometimes I'm sure they have a laugh about it. On the other hand though, I'd say there are times when they are seething too when it gets very personal..

well this tactic has worked very well for McGregor in the past and it is no surprise that others are following suit. When Conor relentlessly attacked Jose Aldo he obviously got in his head and it was because of this that Aldo wasn't himself in the fight, made stupid tactical mistakes and paid the price in less than a minute. Aldo hasn't been the same ever since and I can't help but feel bad for the guy.

I think that McGregor actually mimicked Chael Sonnen in his trash-talking tactics because Sonnen was able to get multiple fights that he did not necessarily deserve just because he has great microphone skills.

Very interesting point about Aldo - he really got in his head alright.

I think at the top level of any sport, that 6 inches between the ears becomes really important. It separates the really good guys with potential from the guys who make it in their respective sports.

The trash talk has spilled over to other sports now too and is known as sledging here and very often goes over the line with vitriol about sisters, mothers, sick family members to name a few..
