My Actifitivity: December 22 2021

Wednesday.

Lots and lots of steps today. I started early again to enjoy a re-enactment of yesterday's amazing crystaline show.

When winter brings clear skies and sunny days, when the temperaturs go above freezing during the day and then cool down again over night, the warming air picks up moisture and then needs to get rid of it again. What a marvellous world.

Similarly to how that would work on a much much bigger scale in time and space, those small mossy hills in the forest collect more of that moisture around their ankle high pinnacles. Quite fascinating, isn't it?!

But the sparkly flowers bloom the most at the edge of the forest, where the mist collects in the morning, where warmer air, protected and insulated by the woods, flows out into the cold open skies and looses its ability to carry the moisture.

That's where everything looks all magical when the morning sun refracts in a sea of tiny little crystals.

We've already looked at those in detail yesterday, so today I wandered off into the forest some more instead.

More mossy hills, they have a very special texture when everything is frozen over a little bit. Slightly crunchy on the impact but still soft and cushioned under weight.

And here we meet today's last guests. A couple of frosty mushrooms with some crispy water flowers blooming on their caps.
