My Actifitivity: December 27 2021

Monday.

We did it. We made it through Christmas.

I'm back on my regular schedule and the actifitivity count is there to show for it.

The weather today was a bit on the rainy side again but the temperatures to go along with it were pleasantly mild.

I went for an afternoon walk together with Hazel and @isnogud where we passed by a funky orange mushroom flower. It's not a Friday today but how about a #MushroomMonday instead?!

 

 

Hazel said it looks like a zucchini flower from afar, and I think she's on to something there.

I'm almost certain it's a "tremella mesenterica" a.k.a. golden jelly fungus or yellow trembler.

The trembler thing and it's latin name also really make a whole lot of sense once you've tested its wobbly consistency.

😮 I’ve never seen anything like this before.
I like the moving jelly picture.
It looks bigger on the first one, but actually it is quite small.

Yes! you have found witch's butter. I rarely find enough to cook for a meal so I harvest it then let it dry in a mason jar until I've found enough. It will dry into a super thin crust and you can just add water to bring it back to life. From there I soak it in spices and salt then add it to a soup.

Unfortunately I am a novice at the fungi game so I rarely even attempt to eat the ones I find.
