A's drop second game of series vs Giants | Jeffrey Springs gets the start today to try and help win series
Well, the A's continue their flip flopping ways as they continue to hover around .500 with this latest loss to the Giants. The Phillies have been hot and cold with a similar record, meanwhile the A's have just been steadily just average. They have above average traits, but below average traits as well, and they're just a bit inexperienced at this point.
Well funny enough, yesterday one of their more experienced pitchers struggled a bit in Luis Severino. He was not terrible but, I think more is expected of him as the ace of this rotation. Casey Schmitt of the Giants homered twice off of him on his way to giving up five runs in six innings. I suppose Severino was decent at eating innings for the A's but it was just a underwhelming outing. Brent Rooker hit his sixth homer which was nice.
Today Jeffrey Springs takes the mound. He's also been incredibly average so far in 2026, which isn't a bad thing, but the A's could use a really good start from him today I feel.
Meh, as I said yesterday, the Giants are a prideful organization and so I'm not entirely shocked at how the they responded.
The series is still up for grabs though! One series at a time.
