Aaron Nola gets his first win since May 3rd! Phillies look to win the series vs Nationals this afternoon.
Well it's been a long road for Aaron Nola and the journey is not over but yesterday was a good first step for him as he got his first win in nearly four calendar months! It wasn't a perfect dominant start for him, but it was pretty clean and quality so it is encouraging! If he can start to turn things around with Zack Wheeler out for the SEASON and the playoffs approaching that would be splendid.
The Phillies did most of their damage offensively in the fourth inning. Realmuto and Bohm started it off with some RBIs but then Edmundo Sosa came in and pretty much ended the game as he demolished a pitch for his seventh homer of 2025! It was a really nice three run blast that made it 5-0 and while the Nationals were pesky as always, the Phillies held on for the 6-4 victory.
It really feels like a war when the Phillies play the Nats, I'm glad they got it done! Jhoan Durán also finally redeemed himself against the Nats and got the save which was sooooo nice to see.
Ranger Suárez aims to get his second consecutive double digit win total of his career, his third overall!
Let's get it done Phils!!
