A's get a strong win to win series vs Orioles | They seek sweep today with Luis Severino on the mound
The A's never really gave the Orioles a chance yesterday. It wasn't total domination by the A's but it was certainly close. They immediately took a 1-0 lead and by the fifth inning it became 5-0. Brent Rooker hit a three-run shot in the third, it was his 5th of the season and he missed a chunk of games somewhat recently. Rooker seems to have found his stride here recently though, as he's 6 for 15 with two homers and six RBI in the past four games now. This already dangerous offense is looking lethal with him playing well!
Aaron Civale pitched five scoreless innings on the mound. Man, if Aaron Nola could perform like this for the Phillies, I'd be happy!
The A's are now three games above .500. This offense continues to hum. The pitching has been average all year but they've been pitching better lately and they've been consistent all year. It's not been up and down by the A's pitchers for the most part, it's normally a mostly winnable outing by them. Again, especially with how strong this offense has been.
Luis Severino is on the mound today and he's been pitching pretty well lately. He's basically averaged six innings per outing and allowing just one run on average over his past three outings. He seems to be finding a bit of a groove right when you'd expect a veteran like him to do so!
Let's find this sweep and find this 22nd win of 2026! Fun times in May!
