A's start series with Orioles on the right foot | Aaron Civale on the mound today for the A's
The A's got their twentieth win of 2026 yesterday in what was just a really solidly played baseball game by both teams overall. Jacob Lopez of the A's earned the victory from the mound, it's his first victory since April 21st. Lopez tossed 5 1/3 innings allowing two runs in that time. His ERA is still 6.11 and his WHIP remains high at 1.75. But all in all it was a helpful performance by Lopez and all of his main numbers did improve after that start. Let's hope he can get his ERA into the 5 range and his WHIP below 1.4 soon.
Nick Kurtz extends his on-base streak to 32 games which is awesome. Kurtz had two hits and two RBI. The all-time on-base streak in MLB history is 84 games. Ted Williams did so with the Boston Red Sox in the summer of 1949. That must have been something to see. Jacob Wilson extends his own hitting streak to 12 as he had two hits and an RBI as well. The A's won 4-3.
The A's enter today's game at 20-18, still in first place in their division but not by much. Would be great to not be so close to .500 and strive for more wins. But it's impressive seeing them at least maintain this record for the most part! Aaron Civale is on the mound today and he's been pretty good. I'm starting to think the A's have an interesting rotation. They have a somewhat lower end ace/elite number two in starting pitcher Luis Severino then a ton of number three level starters, a portion of whom are younger and/or have some upside to improve. Maybe I'm wrong though because I'm really still learning the roster.
I don't know but should be a good game! The A's can win the series today!

I forgot to include the video for the A's win over the Phillies two days ago so here it is.
