Cards From My Personal Collection: Gary Sheffield 2004 Playoff Honors Donruss Card

Ah man, the memories can really flow thinking about Mr. Sheffield. The best summer of my life, next to my papou, watching baseball. My papou is a Red Sox fan and lives in Connecticut. Both the Yankees AND the Red Sox were on a lot during my summer visit there. I remember sitting in that 'den' he called it, and first seeing Gary's iconic wild batting stance where he'd swing the bat, seemingly like a borderline madman. My papou loved pointing that out to me. I loved him showing me.

Anyway, yeah Gary Sheffield was a seriously great player that played forever, from 1988-2009. He surprisingly played for a lot of teams, I remember him most as a Yankee about fifteen years into his career LOL. He actually placed in the top three for MVP votes twice with the Yankees.

But yeah, Gary played for the Marlins, Dodgers, Brewers, Yankees, Braves, Padres, Tigers, and Mets in this career. Quite a lot of teams.

Sheffield hit the always very admirable 500+ homeruns hitting 509 in his career. He was a 9x All-Star, 5x Silver Slugger, 1x NL Batting Champ and a World Series Champ. He really accomplished a lot.

One of my favorite players that's for sure.
