🌎My Thoughts on the Sports World Today🌎
In the real world, the NFL season steadily approaches, and today I'm taking a glance at the AFC West.
The Denver Broncos look to be a live dark horse in this division. I am forever wary of second year quarterbacks but I get good vibes from Bo Nix. I'm unsure what Bo's ceiling is, time will tell, but I'm fairly certain his floor is really high. He has a strong baseline I believe. Sean Payton has also surprised me as a coach after departing the Saints. I believe they have a strong chance of surpassing the Chiefs!
The Las Vegas Raiders seem to be trying, I'll give them that. They have an intriguing cast of personnel. Tom Brady is part owner, Pete Caroll is head coach and Geno Smith is the new QB. Those three are pretty trustworthy names around the league. On the defensive side of the ball Maxx Crosby is as good as it gets. This team seems scrappy with decent momentum, they could be in the running for a playoff spot in 2025-26.
The Los Angeles Chargers feel very similar to their Philip Rivers days. Decent potential, but ultimately average or a shade above average. Even when they make the playoffs I don't feel as though they are much of a threat. They seem ok on paper, but I'll have to see it to believe it with this team.
Looking at the Chiefs they seem to be the opposite of the Chargers in a way. Even though many hope they fail or think they'll have a down year, since Patrick Mahomes arrived this simply has never happened. They are a shoo-in for an AFC Championship Game appearance year in and year out. I think the Chiefs will be great once again in 2025-26. I'll have to see them struggle for a full season until I believe they are anywhere near declining. It must be really depressing to be a fan of the other three teams in this division with these guys around.
I'm actually fairly high on this division. I think the Chiefs are kinda pushing these other franchises to be great and that's interesting to see. The Chiefs should win it again, but I wouldn't be shocked if the Broncos or Raiders are breathing down their necks come January.
UFC Fight Night the other day was pretty eye opening. Anthony 'Fluffy' Hernandez made an absolute statement after dismantling Roman Dolidze. It didn't even look fair! Hernandez is just surging and in the prime of his career. His cardio, speed and fundamentals are fearsome traits to behold! He may be champion by spring or earlier! Who knows!
The sports world never sleeps, till next time!
