T20 World Cup : New Zealand vs Namibia & India vs Scotland

We had two matches yesterday from group 2 and things are getting pretty much interesting with New Zealand, India and Afghanistan fighting for that second position in the table.

New Zealand vs Namibia

First match was played between New Zealand vs Namibia. Namibia being sort of a new team was considered as the underdogs.

New Zealand wanted to win the match with a good margin to get their Net Run Rate good in order to increase their chances of getting to the second place on the table.

New Zealand batting first put 163 runs on the table with the fall of 4 wickets in 20 overs. Glenn Philips made 39 runs with James Neesham made 35 runs following Kane Williamson who made 28 runs.

Namibian team struggled with the batting and made only 111 runs losing the game to New Zealand by 52 runs. Michael van Lingen was the top scorer for Namibia making 25 runs.

New Zealand is now at the second position on the table.

India vs Scotland

India being the stronger team and considered as favorites in the match between India and Scotland.

Scotland made only 85 runs in 17.4 overs all out. Team Scotland struggled against the bowling attack of India. Mohammad Shami and Ravindra Jadeja taking 3 wickets each. George Munsey was the top scorer for Scotland who made 24 runs.

India batting second started their batting pretty much strongly and chased the score in only 6.3 overs with 8 wickets in hand.

KL Rahul made 50 runs and Rohit Sharma made 30 runs.

It is getting more interesting with India and New Zealand being the stronger teams to compete for the second position in the table and qualify for the semi finals.

India will be hoping that New Zealand losses from Afghanistan so that they may get a chance to qualify for semi finals as it will then be decided on Net Run Rate.
