Battle at the Start of the 2026 NBA Playoffs (English/Spanish)

This weekend brought some great basketball. There were favorites that dominated and a couple of upsets that left more than a few people stunned.

Saturday, April 18: The Home Teams Rule (Almost All)

Cleveland Cavaliers 126 - 113 Toronto Raptors: Cleveland (4th) came out swinging. The Raptors (5th) fought back, but the Cavs defended their home court with authority. (CLE leads 1-0).

New York Knicks 113 - 102 Atlanta Hawks: Madison Square Garden was a cauldron. The Knicks (3rd) shut down Atlanta (6th) in a physical, high-intensity game. (NYK leads 1-0).

Denver Nuggets 116 - 105 Minnesota Timberwolves: The defending champions (3rd) showed no mercy. Denver controlled the pace and frustrated the Wolves (6th) in the final minutes. (DEN leads 1-0).

LA Lakers 107 - 98 Houston Rockets: LeBron and Kennard showed their veteran experience. Although the Rockets (5th) came out with a lot of energy, the Lakers (4th) shut the door in time at Crypto.com Arena. (LAL leads 1-0).

Sunday, April 19: Upset in Detroit and Dominance by the Favorites!

Boston Celtics 123 - 91 Philadelphia 76ers: A rout at the Garden! Boston (2nd) showed no mercy to a Sixers (7th) team that was tired from the Play-In. The Celtics looked unstoppable. (BOS leads 1-0).

Oklahoma City Thunder 119 - 84 Phoenix Suns: The Thunder (1st in the West) put on a basketball clinic. Phoenix (8th) was completely outclassed by OKC’s speed and accuracy. (OKC leads 1-0).

Detroit Pistons 101 - 112 Orlando Magic: The upset of the weekend! The Magic (8th) surprised the Pistons (1st) in their own arena. Paolo Banchero (23 pts) led an Orlando team that wasn’t intimidated by the best record in the East. (ORL leads 1-0).

San Antonio Spurs 111 - 98 Portland Trail Blazers: Wembanyama’s Spurs (2nd) got the job done. Portland (7th) fought hard, but San Antonio’s execution ultimately proved superior. (SAS leads 1-0).

Without a doubt, almost all the predictions came true, with the exception of the surprise the Magic gave the Pistons. This is just the beginning, and there may be more surprises to come. In this recap, I’ve covered two days of the playoffs, but I’ll try to do it daily so I don’t get too many games piling up. Sports bring us so much joy, and when the playoffs arrive, the real basketball begins.

Guerra en el Inicio de los Playoffs NBA 2026

Este fin de semana se jugó baloncesto del bueno. Hubo favoritos que aplastaron y un par de campanadas que dejaron a más de uno frío.

Sábado 18 de Abril: Los Locales mandan (Casi todos)

Cleveland Cavaliers 126 - 113 Toronto Raptors: Cleveland (4°) salió a morder. Los Raptors (5°) pelearon, pero los Cavs defendieron su patio con autoridad. (CLE lidera 1-0).

New York Knicks 113 - 102 Atlanta Hawks: El Madison Square Garden fue una caldera. Los Knicks (3°) frenaron a Atlanta (6°) en un juego físico y de mucha intensidad. (NYK lidera 1-0).

Denver Nuggets 116 - 105 Minnesota Timberwolves: El campeón defensor (3°) no dio tregua. Denver controló el ritmo y frustró a los Wolves (6°) en los minutos finales. (DEN lidera 1-0).

LA Lakers 107 - 98 Houston Rockets: LeBron y Kennard demostraron veteranía. Aunque los Rockets (5°) venían con mucha energía, los Lakers (4°) cerraron la puerta a tiempo en el Crypto.com Arena. (LAL lidera 1-0).

Domingo 19 de Abril: ¡Campanada en Detroit y Dominio de los Favoritos!

Boston Celtics 123 - 91 Philadelphia 76ers: ¡Paliza en el Garden! Boston (2°) no tuvo piedad de unos Sixers (7°) que venían cansados del Play-In. Los Celtics lucieron imparables. (BOS lidera 1-0).

Oklahoma City Thunder 119 - 84 Phoenix Suns: El Thunder (1° del Oeste) dio una clínica de baloncesto. Phoenix (8°) se vio totalmente superado por la velocidad y puntería de OKC. (OKC lidera 1-0).

Detroit Pistons 101 - 112 Orlando Magic: ¡El batacazo del fin de semana! Los Magic (8°) sorprendieron a los Pistons (1°) en su propia casa. Paolo Banchero (23 pts) lideró a un Orlando que no le tuvo miedo al mejor récord del Este. (ORL lidera 1-0).

Sin duda alguna casi todo los pronósticos se dieron a excepción de la sorpresa que les dieron los Magic a los Pistons, este solo es el inicio y pueden venir mas sorpresa de ahora en adelante, en este resumen coloque 2 días de playoffs pero tratare de hacerlo a diario para que no se me acumulen tantos juegos, de igual forma el deporte nos hace disfrutar mucho y cuando llegan los playoffs empieza el verdadero baloncesto.
