Venezuela Champions of the 2026 World Baseball Classic, Defeating the USA 3-2 (English/Spanish)
In the World Baseball Classic final, excitement and expectations were sky-high for Venezuela, but everyone knew that their opponent, the United States, was a tough team to beat. Still, I must say that Venezuela’s fans kept their faith intact.
Venezuela started with Eduardo Rodríguez on the mound, who was outstanding. For the first five innings, he kept the U.S. lineup completely in check.
3rd Inning: Venezuela struck first. With aggressive baserunning, they managed to score the first run, 1-0, igniting the stands at Loan Depot.
In the 5th inning, a solo home run extended the lead to 2-0. The stadium in Miami felt like a branch of the monumental Simón Bolívar Stadium in Caracas.
Heading into the eighth inning with a lead that felt solid, but facing a team like the U.S. that you can never take for granted. With a man on base, Bryce Harper hit a monumental home run deep into center field that tied the game at 2-2. At that moment, the stands fell silent, recalling ghosts of past classics.
Glory would come in the 9th inning, because this 2026 team had a different look: in the top of the ninth, Javier Sanoja entered as a pinch-runner, a key move by Omar López.
Eugenio Suárez emerged as the hero by hitting a double off the left-center field wall that brought Sanoja home, putting Venezuela ahead 3-2.

It confirms that Venezuela is one of the powerhouses of the sport, but establishing itself as the current #1 by winning the World Baseball Classic was a dream that came true on March 17, 2026.

Venezuela Campeon del Clasico Mundial 2026 Derrotando a USA 3-2
En la gran final del clásico mundial la emoción y expectativas eran muy altas para Venezuela, pero también se sabía que el rival Estados Unidos era un equipo difícil de vencer pero debo decir que los aficionados de Venezuela mantenían la fe intacta.
Venezuela salió con Eduardo Rodríguez en la lomita, quien estuvo inmenso. Durante las primeras 5 entradas, mantuvo a la toletería de USA totalmente amarrada.
3er Inning: Venezuela pegó primero. Con un corrido de bases agresivo, lograron anotar la primera carrera 1-0 para encender las gradas en el Loan Depot.
En el 5ta inning un jonrón en solitario amplió la ventaja a 2-0. El estadio en Miami parecía una sucursal del monumental Simón Bolívar de Caracas.
Llegando al octavo inning con una ventaja que se sentía sólida, pero ante un equipo como USA con el cual no te puedes confiar. Con un hombre en base, Bryce Harper conectó un cuadrangular monumental por todo el jardín central que empató el juego 2-2. En ese momento, apaciguó las gradas y las silencio, recordando fantasmas de clásicos anteriores.
En el 9no Inning llegaría la gloria, porque este equipo de 2026 tenía un semblante distinto ya que en la parte alta del noveno Javier Sanoja entraría como corredor emergente lo que fue un movimiento clave de Omar López.
Eugenio Suárez se vistió de héroe conectando un doblete contra la pared del jardín izquierdo-central que trajo a Sanoja al plato, en esa instancia Venezuela se pondría arriba en el marcador 3-2.

Maikel García fue nombrado el Jugador Más Valioso del torneo. Merecidísimo por cómo jugó la tercera base y cómo bateó durante todo el clásico.
Este título coloca en las páginas doradas en la historia del béisbol a Venezuela y definitivamente era un hazaña la cual le hacía falta concretar a un país el cual respira este deporte en cada esquina y donde lógicamente su deporte #1 siempre ha sido el béisbol y ratifica que Venezuela es una de las potencias de este deporte, pero establecerse como los actuales #1 al ser los campeones del clásico mundial era un sueño que se ha podido concretar el 17 de marzo de 2026.
En un país donde el deporte es parte importante de la sociedad, este grandioso triunfo tiene un valor incalculable y me alegra ver las sonrisas y felicidad en una nación donde cada niño sueña con superarse a través de las disciplinas deportivas y donde sin duda alguna sobra el talento para el béisbol, baloncesto y muchos otros deportes.
Este equipo ha colocado su nombre en lo más alto y espero todos entiendan el significado que tiene llegar a lo más alto del máximo nivel deportivo lo que hace trascender este momento.
