A small adventure to see the first sunrise of the year/初日の出を見に行く小さな冒険/[ENG/JPN] My Actifit Report Card: January 1 2023

Last year, the small mountain in the park where I went to see the first sunrise of the year was closed to the public.
Due to maintenance work in the surrounding area, the area near the entrance to the mountain has all been blocked.
So, I searched the internet for "first sunrise of the year" in my neighborhood.

1. Must be accessible by public transportation
2. Be able to arrive at sunrise at 07:00:40AM
3. Must be a place with a reputation for not being crowded
4. Being able to walk a lot

I searched for a place that satisfies this condition and decided to go near the port.
Take the first subway at 04:50, arrive at the nearest station at 05:50, and walk 50 minutes from there.

When I arrived at the nearest station, it looked like the picture above.
The iPhone camera is excellent and looks bright, but it was pitch black.

昨年、初日の出を見に行った公園にある小さな山が立ち入り禁止になりました。
周辺の整備工事のため、山への入り口付近がすべて封鎖されてしまいました。
そこで、近所の「初日の出の名所」をインターネットで検索してみました。

1. 公共交通機関で行けること
2. 日の出時刻の07:00:40AMに到着できること
3. 混雑しないことで定評のある場所であること
4. せっかくなのでたくさん歩けること

この条件を満たす場所を探し、港の方へ行くことにしました。
04:50始発の地下鉄に乗り、05:50に最寄り駅に到着、そこから50分歩きます。

到着したときは写真の様な様子でした。
iPhoneのカメラが優秀で明るく見えますが、真っ暗でした。

I was planning to walk along the seaside road from the nearest station.
But even here I was blocked by construction.
The sidewalk that was supposed to be passable was closed to traffic.
I was forced to take a long detour there and lost more than 20 minutes.

As you can see in the picture above, the sky is getting brighter and brighter.
My destination is a long way off and I clearly won't be there in time for sunrise.
So I decided to watch the sunrise on the bridge that came into view.

私は最寄り駅から海沿いの道を歩く予定でした。
しかし、ここでも私は工事に道をブロックされました。
通れるはずだった歩道が「通行止め」になっていたのです。
そこで非常に遠回りを強いられ、20分以上ロスしてしまいました。

上の写真の様に、どんどん空が明るくなっていきます。
私の目的地は随分先で、日の出までに明らかに間に合いません。
そこで、見えてきた橋の上で日の出を見ることに決めました。

As you can see in the map above, when I reached the middle of the bridge, it became very bright behind me.
When I turned around, the sky was dyed in a fiery color.

I was really surprised by this view and stopped for a while.

地図のように、橋の真ん中に差し掛かった時、後ろがものすごく明るくなりました。
振り向くと、空が燃える様な色に染まっていました。

私は本当にこの景色にびっくりしてしばらく立ちすくんでしまいました。

Part of the sky became very bright and the sun came up between the buildings.

The edges of the clouds were really golden and shining.
The water surface of the river leading to the sea nearby was also dyed red.

I took a lot of pictures and looked at the clock, it was 07:03.

空の一部がとても明るくなり、ビルの間から太陽が登ってきました。

雲のふちが本当に金色になって、輝いていました。
すぐそばの海へ続く川の水面も真っ赤に染まっていました。

たくさん写真を撮って時計をみたら、07:03になっていました。

The sun had already risen, so I was satisfied and headed home.
On the way, I borrowed a toilet at a convenience store.

I was looking around the store, wondering if I should buy something to commemorate.
I bought socks and hand towels.
I chose this because the blue and red tenugui felt like the sky this morning.

The name of this blue color is "convenience store blue".
Hats off to the person who named it for his sense of humor (laughs).

ビルの上まで太陽が登ったので、私は満足して帰路につきました。
途中、コンビニエンスストアでトイレを借りました。

今日の記念になる様な何かを買おうかな、と思って店内を探し
ソックスとハンドタオルを購入しました。
ハンドタオルは青と赤が今朝の空の様で、これを選びました。

なんとこの青色の名前は「コンビニブルー」だそうです。
名付けた人のユーモアセンスに脱帽です（笑）

The entrance on the south side of the road along the sea was blocked as "the sidewalk is blocked due to construction".
But I could enter the sidewalk from the north side.
I decided to check the condition of the sidewalk from this side.

This wetland is registered under the Ramsar Convention and is home to many waterfowl.
A highway and an industrial area can be seen in the distance.
This is a place that teaches us that it is possible for rich nature and human activity to coexist.

海沿いの道路は「工事のため歩道封鎖中」として南側は入り口が塞がれていましたが
北側からなら歩道に入ることができました。
試しにこちら側から歩道の状態を確認してみることにしました。

ここはラムサール条約登録湿地で、たくさんの水鳥がいます。
遠くには高速道路と工業地帯が見えます。
ここは豊かな自然と人間の活動が共存することは可能だと教えてくれる場所です。

On the way home, I checked the "sidewalk blockage status" from a high place.
Only a few were barricaded and most were passable.
This was unavoidable because I took on the challenge without any preliminary inspection.

I got on the train and went home while watching the sun that had climbed high.
The Bay Area was a bit of an adventure because it's a neighborhood I don't usually come to at all.

It was a sunny and clear morning, and I was able to see the fiery first sunrise of the year.
I want this year to be a year of fearless (but cautious) adventure.

帰る途中、私は高いところから「歩道の封鎖状況」を確認しました。
バリケードされていたのはごく一部で、ほとんどの部分が通行可能でした。
私は全く下見をせずにチャレンジしたので、これは仕方がないことでした。

すっかり高く登った太陽をみながら電車に乗って帰宅しました。
このベイエリアは普段は全く来ることのない地区なので、ちょっとした冒険でした。

晴れて空気の澄んだ朝で、燃える様な初日の出を見ることができました。
今年は恐れず（でも慎重に）冒険する一年にしたいです。
