Leones y Huracanes en busca de la supremacía habanera (esp/eng)
Cuando en el año 2011 surgió la última división político-administrativa en nuestro país, el territorio de La Habana se dividió en dos provincias: Artemisa y Mayabeque, y así de golpe se perdió uno de los mayores enfrentamientos regionales de nuestra pelota: Industriales versus La Habana
Desde ese entonces el conjunto mayabequense, quien juega en el Nelson Fernández de San José de las Lajas, mismo estadio donde jugaba el antiguo equipo Habana, dueño de una corona nacional en la Serie 48 al derrotar a Villa Clara cuatro juegos a dos comenzó a dar sus incipientes pasos dentro de nuestro béisbol. A principios fue un conjunto por así llamarlo mediocre, heredaron todo el bateo de la antigua Habana pero no tenían un pitcheo ni de la media por así decirlo. Conforme fueron pasando los años y hace tres temporadas atrás de la mano de Michael González hicieron historia al clasificar a su primera postemporada aunque cayeron derrotados ante Ciego de Ávila tan temprano como en los cuartos de final
La temporada anterior a esta fue un desastre en un conjunto que desinfló a medida que iba avanzando el campeonato a tal punto de cerrar la segunda mitad del torneo con pésimo balance de 10 ganados y 22 perdidos, que dieron al traste con el onceno puesto de la clasificación general. Para esta temporada cambiaron al manager, el ex-pelotero de esa provincia Osmel Cordero asumió las riendas y a pesar de un inicio tambaleante fueron cogiéndole el ritmo a la Serie y gracias a varias rachas consecutivas de vientos huracanados terminaron en cuarto lugar de la clasificación general y así accedieron a la que será su segunda postemporada en su corta trayectoria en el béisbol cubano
Sus rivales serán nada más y nada menos que el equipo más ganador de la pelota en Cuba, hablamos de los Industriales, quienes quedaron en quinto puesto con balance de 43 victorias y 32 descalabros a un juego de los huracanes. En esta temporada Mayabeque se llevó la subserie particular tres victorias a dos ante los Leones cuando dirimieron acciones en el Latinoamericano. Se enfrentarán por primera ocasión en la postemporada, aunque han tenido un precedente en la Serie 56, cuando los Azules barrieron 2-0 a sus rivales regionales. En cuanto a la postemporada le daremos algunos datos de interés entre ambos conjuntos en una Serie que hasta el momento será de cinco juegos a ganar tres, comenzando en el Latinoamericano y terminando en los predios del Nelson Fernández
