En el día de hoy se desarrolló el primer encuentro entre las dos potencias del béisbol cubano en el estadio Latinoamericano en el llamado Clásico del béisbol nacional
Los azules conscientes del bajón santiaguero en los últimos partidos salieron con todo a la grama del Coloso del Cerro aunque el primer golpe del partido lo hizo la selección oriental en el mismo primer inning ante los envíos del zurdo Lee Andy Plumas, a la postre ganador del juego cuando le combinaron un hit y una base robada del primer bate José Luis "Chachi" Gutiérrez y un doblete al Left Field del máscara Harold Vázquez.
