El nuevo formato de la UEFA Champions League hasta ahora va siendo una auténtica bocanada de aire fresco al fútbol moderno. Resultados imprecedibles, equipos chiquitos derrotando a los grandes del negocio, en fin... Un total acierto de la UEFA y su presidente Aleksandr Ceferin
Acabada las ocho jornadas de la fase de liguilla los ocho clubes mejores situados avanzan directamente a los octavos de final y esperarán rival de los mencionados playoffs o repesca como se le conoce también entre los lugares del 9 al 24 mediante un sorteo que define el primer paso hacia la gran final el 30 de mayo en Budapest, Hungría. Hoy les daré mi opinión al respecto sobre los cruces que dejó el sorteo realizado este viernes en Nyon, Suiza
**Galatasaray 🆚 Juventus**
Uno de los eliminatorias más calientes que podra tener este playoffs. Dos equipos con realidades muy distintas en sus ligas, el Galatasaray dominando la Liga turca y la Vecchia Signora está en estos momentos fuera de zona Champions después de unos resultados inestables en las últimas jornadas. Además serán dueños muy parejos con dos estadios y dos fanaticadas que van a muerte con los suyos

**Qarabag FK 🆚 Newcastle**
Enfrentamiento inédito en la máxima competición europea entre la gran sorpresa del torneo y único inglés que no estuvo en el top 8 (los demás clasificaron directo). Otros equipos que viven realidades opuestas en sus ligas, el Qarabag no domina en Azerbaijan y el Newcastle va noveno en la Premier League con casi el mismo número de victorias y derrotas, nueve contra ocho respectivamente

Olympiakos 🆚 Bayer Leverkusen
Otro de los enfrentamientos que se repetirán de la fase de liguilla (el otro es Madrid 🆚 Benfica) con dos entrenadores parecidos en sus estrategias, el español José Luis Mendilibar, quien viene de ganar la Conference League y el danés Kasper Hjulmand, quien ha obtenido buenos resultados con la selección danesa

**Bodø-Glimt 🆚 Inter Milán**
Cruce inédito en UEFA Champions League entre dos estilos completamente diferentes del fútbol. El Bodø más ofensivo y los neroazzurros más defensivos a pesar de estar como líderes de la Serie A.

**Brujas 🆚 Atlético Madrid**
Debe ser un duelo entretenido a pesar de los estilos diferentes de ambos técnicos. Puede ser un duelo muy estratégico con mucho rigor físico por ambos equipos, sobretodo por el control del centro del campo entre dos clubes que van terceros en sus respectivas ligas y con la misma cantidad de puntos (44)

**Borussia Dortmund 🆚 Atalanta**
Uno de los partidos que seguro tendrá muchos goles en la eliminatoria. Dos conjuntos que juegan idénticos, con un sello de identidad ofensivo totalmente aunque el Atalanta lo traduce más en el terreno de juego. Crice inédito también en la historia de la Champions League, a pesar de haberse enfrentado en la Europa League por allá en el lejano 2018, en aquel momento pasó el Dortmund con global de 4-3

**AS Mónaco 🆚 PSG**
Otra vez el París Saint-Germain volvió a quedar fuera de los ocho mejores y como la temporada anterior volvió a quedar emparejado en el playoff con un equipo de su liga. Será primera vez que se midan las caras en la historia de la Champions League. Los dos clubes vienen con realidades distintas, el PSG sigue tratando de seguir su hegemonía en Francia mientras que el Mónaco no levanta cabeza y está en el décimo lugar en la tabla

**Real Madrid 🆚 Benfica**
Sin dudas el partido más interesante de la repesca. Después de en la última jornada de la liguilla, el miércoles las Águilas lusas sacaron al Madrid de su puesto de privilegio entre los 8 mejores al derrotarlos 4-2 con un agónico gol marcado por su portero, el ucraniano Anatoliy Trubin en la última jugada del encuentro para clasificar al Benfica en el último lugar que daba acceso a estos playoffs. Además estará el aliciente de la vuelta de José Mourinho al Santiago Bernabéu y de Álvaro Carreras otra vez enfrentando a su ex-equipo

Me gustan este tipo de competiciones en las que los equipos más pequeños tienen la oportunidad de pasar por encima de los grandes. Al final estos se terminan imponiendo, pero mientras tanto permiten soñar a los aficionados con gestas heroicas que se recuerdan por décadas.
Como es natural, en los emparejamientos prefiero que pase un equipo de mi país o que su entrenador sea compatriota, o si algún jugador relevante lo es... ¡con una excepción! En el último caso me gustaría que ganase el Benfica porque tengo inclinaciones culés desde siempre, jajaja. Y como dices, será curioso ver a Mou sentado de nuevo en un banquillo del Bernabéu. 😆
