Today is Saturday 21 March 2026. We are in the word number 349.
This Everyday Word in Spanish is not only useful for Spanish learners, but it's also helpful for English learners as a foreign language.

I hope you are having a great learning day!
Espero que tengas un excelente día de aprendizaje

Here we are with another world in Spanish. Now we have a very easy one taxi. So, today let's see the word 'Taxi'. Do you know how we say 'Taxi' in Spanish?

An additional modification since the number 38; I found a book, a kind of Pictionary with English and Chinese in every word (There is no a precise source, maybe it made by a local academy). Then I will follow it and add the Spanish corresponding word. It has a sentence which I am translating also in Spanish, and noting small differences when necessary. Then it has a version in English, Chinese and Spanish. After this pictionary I will put the usual description of the word.

I can see this is a wonderful educational post teaching the Spanish word "taxi" — which happens to be one of those delightful words that's identical in Spanish and English!

The image shows a nice illustrated card with:

  • English: taxi
  • Chinese: 計程車 (jì chéng chē) / 的士 (dí shì)
  • Spanish: taxi (el)

And the example sentence: "Sometimes he takes a taxi to school" / "A veces él toma un taxi a la escuela."

A few language notes:

The word "taxi" is masculine in Spanish (el taxi), and it's used exactly the same way as in English. It comes from "taximeter" — the device that measures the fare.

In your Spanish sentence "A veces él toma un taxi a la escuela," the structure is perfect. Though in casual Spanish, you'd often drop the pronoun: "A veces toma un taxi a la escuela" (since the verb conjugation already tells us it's "he/she").

Regional variations: While "taxi" is universal across Spanish-speaking countries, you might also hear:

  • El taxista = the taxi driver
  • Tomar/coger un taxi = to take a taxi (though "coger" is avoided in some Latin American countries due to slang meanings)
  • Pedir un taxi = to call/request a taxi

Your daily word series is a great resource for language learners — love that you're including the trilingual approach with English, Chinese, and Spanish!

¡Sigue así con tu excelente trabajo educativo! 🚕📚
