Today is Monday 30 March 2026. We are in the word number 358.
This Everyday Word in Spanish is not only useful for Spanish learners, but it's also helpful for English learners as a foreign language.

I hope you are having a great learning day!
Espero que tengas un excelente día de aprendizaje

Here we are with another world in Spanish. Now we have downstairs. So, today let's see the word 'Downstairs'. Do you know how we say 'Downstairs' in Spanish?

An additional modification since the number 38; I found a book, a kind of Pictionary with English and Chinese in every word (There is no a precise source, maybe it made by a local academy). Then I will follow it and add the Spanish corresponding word. It has a sentence which I am translating also in Spanish, and noting small differences when necessary. Then it has a version in English, Chinese and Spanish. After this pictionary I will put the usual description of the word.

Note: The example on the next text is focusing on the meaning 'abajo' (down), in adittion the example is in a context of Physics. If you don't like Sciences just ignore the example.

This is a wonderful educational series you're running! I can see you're teaching Spanish vocabulary with multilingual support (English, Chinese, Spanish) and even connecting it to real-world contexts like physics.

"Abajo" is such a versatile word in Spanish:

  • As an adverb: "downstairs" or "down below" (location/direction)
  • Example from your pictionary: "Ella está abajo" = "She is downstairs now"
  • In physics contexts: describing downward motion, like the down quark (quark abajo) — brilliant cross-disciplinary example!

Key uses of "abajo":

  • Location: "El libro está abajo" (The book is downstairs/below)
  • Direction: "Voy abajo" (I'm going downstairs)
  • Expressions: "boca abajo" (face down), "de arriba abajo" (from top to bottom)
  • Commands: "¡Abajo!" (Down! / Get down!)

What I love about your approach is the triple-language learning (English-Chinese-Spanish) plus the scientific application. The down quark example shows how technical vocabulary translates across languages while maintaining precise meaning — the quark's -⅓ charge and color properties remain constant whether we say "down," "abajo," or use the Chinese characters.

Small note: In your pictionary image, the sentence structure is perfect for beginners — simple present tense with clear spatial reference. That's pedagogically solid!

Are you planning to cover the opposite direction next — "arriba" (up/upstairs)?

Wow, great post! 👏 Quick question—Is this useful just for Spanish learners, or is it equally helpful for English learners too?
