My Actifit Report Card: August 10 2022

Crazy day today.

I did not do my morning walk because I had an 8 a.m. appointment with the Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) to transfer my driver's license from Pennsylvania. I wanted to ensure I got my newsletter done, so I awoke at 5 a.m. and began work on it immediately. I wrapped it up at 7 a.m. and got moving toward my appt.

As I was about to walk out the door, my wife asked if she could go. I'm glad she did.

We pulled in and I realized I was in the wrong parking lot. So, I went to turn around and when I shifted into reverse my transmission went out. It was time for my appt., so I went in. Meanwhile, Theresa texted my mom.

My dad arrived with his pickup and we decided to rent a tow dolly. I called U-Haul but they suggested a trailer instead because my Chevy Express would be too heavy for the tow dolly. Whatever.

We drove over to U-Haul and picked up the trailer, but we had to take my dad's wheelchair lift off his truck first. We drove back to the van to load it on the trailer, but the vehicle was too wide. I sent Theresa and my dad back to U-Haul to return the trailer while I called for a tow truck.

On our way home, I realized I had a scheduled call with a client at 11 a.m. and it was 11:30, so I called him. We spoke for a good 20 minutes and beat the tow truck to my house. After telling the tow truck driver where to drop my vehicle and paying him, I took my parents to lunch. It was after 1 p.m before I could get to my client work.

Finally, I was able to get some work done. Then my parents, wife, and I played dominoes and had dinner.

At one point while working, a storm rolled in. Since my wife and I live in a converted bus off-grid, I didn't want to get stuck in the bus in the storm. So, I grabbed my computer and went in the house. But I forgot to close the windows. Our bed got wet.

We haven't had rain in months. We needed it. But we didn't need a wet mattress. When the rain stopped, Theresa and I took the mattress outside to air it out. It's still a little damp, but it will be cool sleeping tonight.

I ended the day with more than 6,000 points.
