Is Combat Sports Turning Into a Joke?

According to Wikipedia, a combat sport, or fighting sport, is a competitive contact sport that usually involves one-on-one combat.. It also requires some technique in which the type of combat is allowed.

I am not sure how this dangerous sport which is usually done by a trained athlete or athlete that has dedicated their time and soul to train well so that they can give the best during the match; shifts into a match between a YouTuber or public figure versus trained athlete.

It is all started with the fight between Floyd Mayweather Jr. vs Logan Paul, a former world boxing champion against a youtube who has not even had has his professional boxing record. The fight ends in a draw, which is a bit shocking because surely a former boxing champion must be able to put an ordinary man asleep with a few jabs.

Then that idea starts to creep in into the celebrity and YouTuber in my country. The people here are really in love with some kind of stupids show, and that the reason why there is a growing number of celebrity turning YouTubers starts their own useless podcasts on youtube.

The first stupid fight match was between a famous young man who shows his power by cutting down a banana tree using his jabs only. He instantly becomes a social media star.

His opponent is a muathay champion in the National Sports week event. can you believe he can defeat a well-trained athlete or is the champion willing to lose his record just to get better payment with the staged fight?

The next one is a fight between a son and his stepfather. Azka Corbuzier, the son of the most famous celebrity and podcast YouTuber will fight against his mother's ex Vicky Prasetyo. While Vicky Prasetyo is famous for his stupidity and his extravagant life, as he has married many artists which is the marriage didn't last long.

How can a boxing fight between two youtube and celebrity clowns have such a big exposure? It is even becoming a headline in some mainstream media. Just got me thinking, where will the combat fight sports a heading?

I feel really a pity for the professional athletes who work and trained hard to fight a decent and honorable fight, but they get minimal exposure. not to mention that they will be paid much less than those shameless clowns.

On the one hand, they attract a new audience to boxing, but on the other hand, they harm a little because they are taking away the professionalism of this beautiful sport, and that, from my point of view, is not good at all.

I think that if a YouTuber wants to fight a professional boxer, it is not something that is bad, but he should prepare in the best way, try to do it as well as possible and make it look more professional and not something that is funny.

But these fights that are taking place as youtubers are to amass money, many can involve many people because of their fame and that represents a large purse. I don't really like that.

if they were to prepare and are into combat sports I think it is good. But most of the time they are only fighting for exposure and money for thier content. Just in one fight they can make a bunch of video which then were only aimed at getting money but not the sports itself.

the latest event here in my place, it was just a joke fight with two celebrity, and it is only live on the fighter's podcast channel. They even have thier own belt for the fight, which even make more sad.

it shows that what the professional fighter of combat sports who trained hard and want to prove thier skill and recognition through the belt look insanely useless as anyone can make such a belt.
