RE-CAP OF LAST NIGHT UEFA CHAMPIONS LEAGUE RESULTS.
I will like to take a moment to look critically into the matches played last night in the EUFA champions league, how teams fare, the up set, teams run and other aspect of the game that needed serious attention and deliberation.
My first point of call will be Group E where the likes of the defending champions Liverpool, Napoli, Genk and Salzurg played each other for supremacy and a chance to pick one of the two available slots from group E.
Genk hosted Napoli at Luminus Arenal Belgium in a match that has over 54% of the online poll given the win to the team from Nipples. The home team had a better ideas has regards the match because they knew that a conservatives loss would be so disastrous for them haven't lost their first match to Salzburg. The set up for the match against Napoli was better this time around has the team endure pressure to secure a valuable draw against the Napoli team that are still basking the excitement of the defeat of the defending champions Liverpool in their first match of the group stage.
Liverpool versus Salzburg was another match in group E played last night and the match did lift up to expectation especially for some of us that did for seen the capability of the Salzburg team to up set the reigning champions right there at Anfield. The champions did had a good start into the match when Sadio Mane open the scoring on 9th minutes of the encounter to send the teeming fans of Liverpool into wide jubilation before Robertson made it 2-0 on the 25th minutes and Mohammad Salah put the ice on the cake for the Reds. At that point it all look done and dusted, on 39th minutes, Hwang put one back for the visitors in what looks like a mere consolation before it turns 3-2 and later 3-3 on 60th minutes.
At that point Anfield went silent for what could have been a major comeback and up set in this season champions league but with the qualities that Liverpool has, they turns things around when Mohammed Salah scored the 4th goals and his second for the night to give the Reds three maximum point. As it stands right now in group E, Napoli is top with 4 points, follow by Salzburg with 3 points as Liverpool but with better goals different. Genk is placed 4th on the log with 1 point after two matches.
Group F have Barcelona, Inter Milan, Borrusia Dortmond and Slavia Prague. This group is one one the toughest group in this year competition with three of the four teams been former champions of this competition. The match between Barcelona and Inter was arguably the match of the night, the match did lift up to expectation and it does show when Inter took the lead in the 2nd minutes of the encounter through Martinez before Suarez equalized on the 58 minutes before he scored the winner on the 84th minutes to earn Barca three maximum point on the night.
In the other match in the group, Slavia Prague had no answer to the constant pressure thrown at them by Borussia Dortmund who eventually won by two goals to nil and move to the top of the log with 4 points as Barcelona but with better goals difference.
Group H will never stop to surprise us with the type of results we are getting from this group. On the opening day this group, Chelsea suffered home loss to Valencia while Ajax continued from where they stopped during the last season's champions league where they reach semi-finals losing narrowly to Tottenham.
A 3-0 win by Ajax over the Valencia team shows how this Ajax team is growing strength to strength in this competition and i will not be surprised if they take a step forward in this year competition.
Chelsea on the other hand had a slow start to this season champions league after losing at home to Valencia. At Stade Pierre Mauroy the Blues got the much needed win against Lille who as well was looking for their first point of the competition.
