As always, thanks a bunch for the rewards! Still lots of events going on at the Olympics. Today particularly interesting to me: men's football, handball and basketball. Also the time trial in cycling.
I still can't get use to seeing handball on the list.
I just can't bring myself to really watch the Olympics as much this year because the events tend to happen late at night or when I am asleep sometimes. I tend to just drop by here to get my daily dose of what happened.
Well, handball has always been a big sport at the Olympics. In France where I grew up, this is one of the popular sports with lots of fans (of course, that helps that the national team has been one of the best for many years).
Yeah, I'm on US East Coast time, this is also not ideal to catch events live, but I did see a few, and quite a few replays too.
I am west coast time but I am generally too tired in the morning or at night to pay attention.

Sparta Prague vs Rapid Vienna
My prediction on this just BTTS (GG)
Why (GG) I thought sparta can still make something happen.
Yeah but if you can remember their last game them play Rapid Vienna won the game by 2 goals to 1.
which if today game can come otherwise too so those two teams are scoring side which GG be the saver side when it come to football prediction
MY prediction is over 2.5/3 and Sparta to score 3 goals

For those interested in French Ligue 1 soccer, I also saw we have tonight a friendly match between Marseille and Saint Etienne. I am the first one to say pre-season games usually don't mean much , but as we are getting closer to the league opening day, I'm thinking maybe they will start playing with their best players, and with real engagement. Marseille had several new recruits, not sure they will play. And Saint Etienne is missing two of their young players currently at the Olympics with the French national team. So, we'll see whether it ends up being a boring match without anything at stake, or an actual nice football match.
I think it would be a boring match where they play around with their setups. I think they still need to break in the new players and I think its a good place to do so without worrying about the actual results.
Marseille leading 1-0 after less than 2 minutes! De La Fuente, the young American coming from Barcelona youth and who signed with Marseille this year, scored the first goal
If anybody is interested, final score was 2-1 for a Marseille win. It wasn't as bad as I thought, but of course not a real season game. At least, I could see some of the young Saint Etienne players play for the first time.

And Simone Biles finally announced she's out for the individual competition as well. Too much pressure, mental health issues according to the official announcement. There is a still a chance she will participate in some of the competitions next week. Big disappointment for the US, as she was surely one of the favorites for at least one medal.
Yea I think she would of definitely got at least one metal. Do you think she will make it back in time for the competitions next week?
I doubt she will be back next week. Unlike what many say, withdrawing from the competitions this week probably took a lot of courage, and to get her head back in the game so quickly will be very difficult. But she's a great champion, so who knows?
Primoz Roglic, the Slovenian, won the cycling time trial today with just over a minute lead on the second rider. Slovenians are definitely very good in cycling competitions this year.
Do you think Chelsea still need a striker?
Remember Dortmond bought Haaland from Salzburg when he was young and gave him more playing time and that is why the world could see his impact. I strongly believe Chelsea give his young strikers time they may end up being a fantastic player just like Haaland.

Going by the performance of their current attackers, I believe the London club Chelsea need to fortify the forward position before the transfer window closes if they intend to challenge for major trophies in the coming season. Landing the Norwegian international would really be a great has the team will become unstoppable

Well, I was really wrong on this one. At the Olympics men football tournament, Japan destroyed France 4-0 earlier today. I couldn't watch the match, so I'm not really sure if France played really bad, or Japan played really good, or both...
Japan goes to the quarter finals, and France goes home.
In the same group, Mexico won 3-0 against South Africa, and also goes to the quarter finals.
I guess team USA was vexed loosing their opening game against France at the Olympics basketball tournament. For their second match, they destroyed Iran 120-66!
France also won quite easily against Czech Republic, and even before the last group game, they're already sure to finish first in their group and of course qualified for the quarter finals.
Team USA still needs to win their last group game against Czech Republic in order to get to the quarter finals.
Wow I wonder if it was Iran doing bad or if the USA team was doing extremely well. I think the USA team will make it to the quarter finals though.
Iran is one of the few teams without a single NBA player, and I think that does count. Also team USA started to pass the ball better.
Yeah, they just need to beat Czech Republic which just lost by 20 points against France today. That should not be a problem. But like I was saying on another post, team USA will most probably finish second in their group behind France, which means they will play a slightly better team in the quarter finals.
