Hoy nuevamente me embarga la tristeza por la situación de mi equipo favorito, los Navegantes del Magallanes. Han tenido, sin duda, un pésimo... qué digo pésimo, ¡un desastroso arranque de temporada! Primero quiero dar mi impresión de lo que han sido, al menos, los últimos 10 partidos de Magallanes. Desgarra el alma ver sus números tan pobres, llenos de desilusión, tristeza y desánimo. Magallanes, en sus últimos 10 encuentros, apenas ha logrado conseguir 3 victorias, y hoy, sábado 8 de noviembre, mientras redacto este post, acumula una racha desmoralizadora de 5 derrotas consecutivas. Esto es preocupante a niveles extremos.

Su último partido perdido fue ayer, 7 de noviembre, ante los Tigres de Aragua, con marcador final de 4 x 0. Los Tigres limitaron a Magallanes a solo 3 hits en todo el compromiso. Sigo manteniendo mi postura: hay un gran problema de bateo en la nave. Puede que el pitcheo falle ocasionalmente, pero la madera del bate simplemente no está sonando.

Toda esta situación resulta irónica e interesante, porque si echamos un vistazo a las estadísticas colectivas de la temporada, encontramos a Magallanes con la mejor efectividad de pitcheo, pero el peor promedio de bateo. ¡Impresionante y preocupante a la vez! Algunos podrían preguntarse cómo es que los Tigres, que se están comiendo la liga a su antojo, no lideran ninguna de estas dos estadísticas. Pues ahí está la clave: el equilibrio. Si detallan las cifras, verán que los Tigres están en la quinta posición en bateo, pero combinan ambas facetas —bateo y pitcheo— de manera balanceada. Ahora hablemos del cambio de capitanía en la nave turca. Esta semana, precisamente el jueves, se anunció que Yadier Molina volverá a dirigir la nave después de haberlo hecho en la temporada 2022-2023. Para mí, esta es una gran noticia. Aunque existe algo de incertidumbre, creo que puede traer un cambio de visión al equipo... o al menos eso espero. Lo cierto es que, sí o sí, se necesitaba un cambio. Ya estaba bueno de ver cómo la estrategia del equipo no estaba funcionando y cómo nos hundíamos cada vez más.

Algo que me desconcierta en lo deportivo —y con lo que choco muchas veces— es la idea de tener que depender de resultados externos para clasificar, algo que vemos muy a menudo en el fútbol venezolano con nuestra Vinotinto. Magallanes va por ese mismo camino. Mantenernos tanto tiempo en los últimos puestos significa que debemos ganar hasta el más mínimo partido, pero también rezar para que los equipos que van por encima pierdan la mayoría. Es una montaña rusa emocional... pero bueno, así es el béisbol y los deportes en general.

Como detalle extra quiero mostrarles como quedo la tabla de posiciones bajo la capitanía de Yadier Molina en la temporada 22-23, se lograron buenos resultados, quizá esta vez el nuevo manager tenga una tarea un poco difícil para sacar de las profundidades a la nave, así que el tiempo lo dirá.

Something that baffles me in sports—and that I often run into—is the idea of ​​having to depend on external results to qualify, something we see very often in Venezuelan soccer with our Vinotinto. Como palabras finales —y creo hablar en nombre de toda la fanaticada—, siento que Magallanes tiene mucho más para ofrecer. Queremos ver un mejor espectáculo a través de la pantalla.
