📷 First Spring MTB Tour 2023

Hello dear friends

this weekend I was finally able to take my first mountain bike tour in spring-like temperatures with just under 20 degrees. My family had unfortunately not so much of the beautiful days, because my children had imported again a few nice cold attacks from school. As I write these lines, I now also notice a slight scratching in my throat. Let's see what will happen to me.

However, I wouldn't want to trade places with the little bug. Can you see the spider on the cover picture?

dieses Wochenende habe ich endlich meine erste Mountainbike Tour bei frühlingshaften Temperaturen mit knapp 20 Grad unternehmen können. Meine Familie hatte leider nicht so viel von den schönen Tagen, da meine Kinder nochmal ein paar nette Erkältungsanwandlungen aus der Schule importiert hatten. Während ich diese Zeilen schreibe, merke ich nun aber auch leicht ein Kratzen im Hals. Mal gucken, was bei mir daraus wird.

Allerdings möchte ich nicht mit dem kleinen Käfer tauschen. Könnt ihr die Spinne auf dem Titelbild sehen?

Traditionally, my first MTB spring tour leads me through the so-called kingdom of heaven above the Mainschleife between Urphar, Bettingen, Kreuzwertheim and Wertheim - Eichel. At FC Eichel, by the way, the former football Bundesliga player Thomas Reis, who is currently causing a sensation as coach of Schalke 04 (a traditional German soccer club), learned to play soccer ;-)

However, this time I went to the Klostersee (cloister lake) of Trennfeld, where we often go swimming in summer, to see the works of the beaver. The cute little animals have left clear traces.

On the way back through the Lower Franconian highlands, I then also drove past the Triefenstein monastery, which gives the name to my favorite quarry pond.

Traditionell führt mich meine erste MTB-Frühlingstour ja durch das sogenannte Himmelreich oberhalb der Mainschleife zwischen Urphar, Bettingen, Kreuzwertheim und Wertheim - Eichel. Beim FC Eichel hat übrigens der ehemalige Bundesligaspieler Thomas Reis, der momentan als Coach von Schalke 04 für Furore sorgt, das Fußball spielen erlernt. ;-)

Allerdings bin ich dieses mal an den Klostersee von Trennfeld gefahren, wo wir im Sommer sehr oft baden gehen, um die Werke des Biebers zu begutachten. Die possierlichen Tierchen haben die Landschaft gut aufgemischt.

Auf dem Rückweg durch das unterfränkische Hochland fuhr ich dann auch am Kloster Triefenstein vorbei, das meinem Lieblingsbaggersee den Namen gibt.

The Kallmuth vineyard of Homburg am Main (river) is easily visible from Altfeld, which is located directly on the A3 highway. The well-known consumer temple Wertheim Village is also not far away.

Der Homburger Kallmuth Weinberg ist von Altfeld, das direkt an der Autobahn A3 liegt, aus gut zu sehen. Auch der bekannte Konsumtempel Wertheim Village ist nicht weit weg.

I'm looking forward to the fact that the trees will soon bear leaves again, because then you will finally be able to cycle in short clothes again without the risk of hypothermia. As a fair-weather biker, I'm probably not the type of competitive athlete who enjoys cycling spring classics ;-)
I was impressed once again by the performance of Mathieu van der Poel, who won the cycling monument "Milan - San Remo" on 18.03.2023, which unfortunately was denied to his father Adrie van der Poel in contrast to his grandfather Raymond "Popou" Poulidor.

By the way, I ride anyway with my old pedlec MTB. The now 10 years has come noticeably in the year and has lost extremely in storage capacity, so that I now drive very much with the engine switched off. Only on steep hills I still switch on the engine. The fitness will of course be beneficial ;-)

Ich freue mich schon darauf, daß die Bäume bald wieder Laub tragen werden, denn dann wird man endlich auch wieder in kurzen Klamotten radeln können, ohne Gefahr zu laufen, sich zu unterkühlen. Als Schönwetterbiker bin ich wohl eher nicht der Typ, der die Frühjahrsklassiker mit Freuden führe. ;-)
Beeindruckend fand ich zum wiederholten Male die Leistung von Mathieu van der Poel, der am 18.03.2023 das Radsportmonument "Mailand - San Remo" gewonnen hat, was seinem Vater Adrie van der Poel im Gegensatz zu seinem Großvater Raymond "Popou" Poulidor leider verwährt blieb.

Ganz nebenbei fahre ich ja sowieso mit meinem alten Pedlec MTB. Der nun 10 Jahre ist merklich in die Jahr gekommen und hat extrem an Speicherfähigkeit eingebüßt, so daß ich nun sehr viel mit abgeschalteten Motor fahre. Nur am steilen Berg schalte ich noch den Motor zu. Der Fitness wird das natürlich zuträglich sein. ;-)
