Mt. Hapunang Banoi

Mt Hapunang Banoi is one of my favorite mountains in Montalban, Rizal. The first time I came here was last Nov 19, 2018, with my brother and his wife and my friend. This is actually the 4th mountain I have climbed. If you are a beginner you will find it hard to climb the mountain because of its limestone formation. The rock is sharp that could cut the skin of your palm so you need to wear gloves also if you are wearing ordinary shoes it could break the sole like mine.

I really enjoyed this hike. One of my favorite scenarios on top of it was the sun rising. I have been in love with the sunrise ever since I hiked. It is so beautiful, so enchanting that I could hike again and again.

On March 19 last year, I went here again. That was my second time and I never get tired of climbing this mountain. Just on the trail, you will enjoy nature like grass, trees, stone, and the breeze, and especially when climbing the rocky part of the mountain. It's worth it!

It’s cool to have a company climbing this mountain sharing our joy and struggles while in the trail 😂. I went there with the youth of our church, the Evangelical Covenant Church of Manila (ECCM).

Why is it called Mt. Hapunang Banoi?

Hapunang Banoi means "a place where eagles come to dine." Banoi is a Bisaya word that means "an eagle" and Hapunan is a Tagalog word that means "to dine". It was said that the mountain was named as such because it is the kind of mountain where eagles come to eat food and rest. However, the eagles can rarely be found now. In the past, many eagles were found in the mountain but now several can only be found. So that’s the story of my experience climbing Mt. Hapunang Banoi. I hope you liked my little video. Thanks!
