Sublime Sunday: Bird Doo-doo, Indian Food & Arabic Sweets

UAE Rains and Bird Doo-Doos

The first thing I did in the morning was to visit my car at the parking lot. It's been there since Wednesday after we went to the Library. There was heavy rains last Friday morning and though it was a covered parking, I was still sure the car would me messy.

Sure enough, there were dirt splashes at the rear bumper the most. But worse, there were lots of bird doo doos also! So i gave the car a quick "sponge bath" before leaving the parking lot.

Arabic Sweets

My sister messaged me she was craving for baklava (a Middle Eastern sweet pastry). I was dumbfounded when she said 3 pieces of baklava in the Philippines was Php 269 (~$5 each piece!) That's so ridiculous.

So I proceeded to make her jealous by sending her photos of the sweets at an Arabic bakery I went to in the afternoon. The photo above is kunafeh/kunafah, which is one of my favorites.

Indian Food for Lunch

Hubs and I went out at around 1pm to go the bank and withdraw some cash. We got preoccupied earlier that we have not yet cooked anything for lunch yet, so I decided to just get some take outs.

For some reason, I craved for Hyderabadi Biryani, so I searched for some good places around the area we were at. I found one just a few minutes walk from where we were.

The restaurant was busy working on take outs-- there were only 2 gentlemen dining in when we came. The cashier (probably also the owner) suggested we get the Dhs 30 (~$8) package, which was a tub of chicken biryani, some sauce, yogurt, and sweets. It was a lot! I think the tub volume was 1kg.

We all enjoyed it at home. I'm quite impressed at how much chicken was there. I think it's worth the Dhs 30.

And because I was too anxious to get back home to feed my not so little people, I realized that I forgot to go to my bank. I had to go back after lunch. What a waste of gas. 🤦‍♀️

The rest of the day/night was just spent chilling at home as usual.

How about you, how did your day go? Hope you had a happy and sublime sunday, too!
