[PL / ENG] Na szczycie Wyżyny Śląskiej: Góra Świętej Anny / At the top of the Silesian Upland: St. Anne Mountain

Dzisiaj wracając z Dolnego Śląska postanowiliśmy wpaść po drodze na Górę Świętej Anny (po śląsku: Anaberg), aby zobaczyć, co takiego znajduje się na najwyższym wzniesieniu Wyżyny Śląskiej.
Jest to punkt dość dobrze znany podróżującym autostradą A4 - na wysokości Anaberg zwykle drastycznie zmienia się pogoda lub pojawia się gęsta mgła. Nie inaczej było i dzisiaj - cały czas jechaliśmy ze słońcem, a na Anaberg kropił deszcz, ale może to przypadek.

Today, returning from Lower Silesia, we decided to visit St. Anne's Mountain (in Silesian: Anaberg) to see what is on the highest hill of the Silesian Upland.
This point is quite well known to those traveling on the A4 motorway - at the height of Anaberg the weather usually changes drastically or there is dense fog. It was no different today - we were driving with the sun all the time, and it was raining on Anaberg, but maybe it's a coincidence.

Na początek powitała nas ścieżka geologicznego wehikułu czasu, czyli kamieniołom nefelinitów. Góra Świętej Anny była niegdyś wulkanem, dzięki czemu jest pokryta bazaltem (nefelinitem). Z pomocą funduszy unijnych powstała tu ścieżka dydaktyczna - jest to zejście w dół, po licznych schodkach, gdzie można po drodze podziwiać przekroje geologiczne widoczne na tej skarpie.
My oczywiście byliśmy z wózkiem, poza tym nie mieliśmy wiele czasu, rzuciliśmy więc tylko okiem z góry.

To begin with, we were greeted by the path of the geological time machine, the Nephelinite Quarry. St. Anne's Mountain was once a volcano, thanks to which it is covered with basalt (nepheline). With the help of EU funds, an educational path was created here - it is a descent down numerous steps, where you can admire the geological cross-sections visible on this slope along the way.
Of course, we were with the pram, besides, we didn't have much time, so we only took a peek from above.

Inną atrakcją obecną na Górze jest Muzeum Krzyża Świętego.

Another attraction present on the Mountain is the Museum of the Holy Cross.

My jednak dotarliśmy prosto do Bazyliki - Sanktuarium Św. Anny. Po wspięciu się po schodkach można odwrócić się, by zobaczyć taki widok na zieloną Wyżynę Śląską.

We, however, got straight to the Basilica - the Sanctuary of St. Anna. After climbing the stairs, you can turn around to see such a view of the green Silesian Upland.

I tu znowu po wyjściu z Sankturarium, na placu. Jak widać, zafascynował mnie widok za tym łukowym przejściem.

Swoją drogą, sama historia Góry Świętej Anny jest też dosyć ciekawa. Miały tu miejsce walki w czasie III Powstania Śląskiego.

By the way, the history of St. Anne's Mountain itself is also quite interesting. Fighting took place here during the Third Silesian Uprising.

Powstało tam również mauzoleum poległych żołnierzy niemieckich oraz nazistowski amfiteatr. Dojdziemy do niego tą kamienistą uliczką odchodzącą z rynku - widać już drogowskaz.

There was also a mausoleum of fallen German soldiers and a Nazi amphitheater. We can reach it through this rocky street leading off the market square - you can already see the signpost.

Oto i pomnik. Kiedyś było to mauzoleum kryte mozaiką, na której znajdował się niemiecki orzeł oraz swastyka (źródło - wiki). Z przyczyn oczywistych mauzoleum już nie ma - zostało wysadzone w powietrze przez Armię Czerwoną. Szczątki zostały wysypane na pobliskim cmentarzu, a zamiast mauzoleum na terenie amfiteatru powstał Pomnik Czynu Powstańczego – dzieło Xawerego Dunikowskiego. (źródło: turystycznepropozycje.pl).

Here is the monument. It used to be a mausoleum covered with a mosaic with a German eagle and a swastika (source - wiki). For obvious reasons, the mausoleum is gone - it was blown up by the Red Army. The remains were dumped in the nearby cemetery, and instead of the mausoleum in the amphitheater, the Monument to the Uprising Deed was built - the work of Xawery Dunikowski.
