War Or Sports ?
Sometimes war and global unrest becomes a fact, a block for not letting the sports go through a normal pace. Its natural a fact that when war goes on and people are affected through it then the citizens find it difficult to changing situations. In fact, war is not a solution, but the effects that it lies ahead is remarkable, catastrophic and even dangerous too.
What if war is waged and then the contending nations are greatly affected from it ? If the civilians are into abnormal life, instead of living a productive life, they fall succumbed to survival mode - it becomes a problem and casts a longer lasting effects for sure.
The longer lasting effects stretch beyond not only the target areas set by the military organelles of the states, but in civilian, national and even beyond where international arena's try to solve problems and let the economy and the other services unharmed.
It is a known fact that this year the soccer world cup will be held. But I am not sure whether they will be hosting it properly or have the chance to organize such a big tournament. FIFA World Cup in global stage requires something that would capture the global market, collect enough revenue and execute the tasks well with the financial support at hands.
But it is not going to be the same like the past. It was easy to host the world cup four years ago, dating back at that time the global situation was good enough to take proper initiatives and run the programmes. Great to note that,the hosting partners and sponsors play a big role in supporting such a big tournament and also the global leaders play pivotal role in letting the tournament continue too.
Whatever the initial situation was the previous year, currently it is a tough race to go on and host the tournament. Not because the world is hit by something colossal as global pandemic or huge economic recession, but a regional or full scale war that would never end soon even if it is resolved with easy efforts. We might watching a visible part, but a much deeper context remains hidden, which we only could feel if we look from insightful eyes.
Iran has most certainly looks to boycotting the USA and would want to continue the world cup. But the world cup is not about Iran or USA, rather more other countries are into the conflicting terms and would want to secure their own position quite clearly. If 5-6 stronger nation boycotts world cup - there are high possibilities that the world cup may stop in the midway.
Maybe, it could be cancelled at the time of the beginning who knows ? We are talking here about plain statistics and that could spoil the tournament, most possibly. Whatever that is, I would not want that the war might continue to grow on, rather it can be minimized and conflicts could be resolved too soon.
Sports could turn into a tool to reduce the geopolitical tensions that are get going and that's only by fast track diplomacy and approaches like FIFA world cup. Whats your take ?
