Fantasy Football Discussion/Waiver Wire Pickups Prior to Playoffs

One of the ways you can win a fantasy football championship is by picking up guys who get key volume down the stretch at the end of the year. How many of us have been bested by the likes of a Cj Anderson, Mike Boone, Jeff Wilson Jr, or a Latiavus Murray in years past? Running backs are my top priority to pick up at any point during the season after injury to the starter as they seem so much more interchangeable at the position. Most of these guys have the talent, and just need the touches to show out. Here ill be taking a look at Quarterbacks, Running Backs, and Wide Receivers they my pay dividends in the fantasy football playoffs and rating them in order of who I think is best that are currently available in my 12 team yahoo league.

Running Backs:

1.) Matt Breida - Yes Singletary is still there trudging along for his usual 12 carries and 35 yards. However Breida has had a great first step and looks downright explosive. That bills offense is something we all want a piece of as they can score 35 any given sunday, and Breida has scored in the past 3 weeks double digits each game. If he can get 15 carries a game and continue to be the pass catching back, the potential is there for some big games down the stretch.

2.) Adrain Peterson - Yes ALL DAY AP is back on a team and its not the Titans. He wasnt cut for a lack of being able to play, he was simply outshined by Foreman and Hillard and the Titans dont need to roster 4 running backs. With Seattle, AP steps right into an early down and goal line back position. Seattle is still able to score points, and AP should be able to stumble his way into a TD a week down the stretch. I think he has a high floor moving forward especially in standard scoring leagues.

3.) Tevin Coleman - Oh man its tough to pickup anybody on this offense (sorry jets fans) but as prior mentioned you want guys on explosive offenses. The jets are simply lacking jet fuel to say the least. However last week Coleman rushed 15 times for 67 yards and added a pair of catches for a handful of yards as well. Coleman has the talent, he just hasnt seen 15+ carries since 2019 with the 49ers (when he went for 105 yards). If the Jets can string together a few nice drives, Coleman could be a candidate for a 15+ point week. The volume will be there, we will wait and see if the jets can get into the redzone in these last few games

Wide Recievers:

1.) Josh Reynolds: I am loving reynolds after his perofrmance last week on the Lions. He went for 3 catches on 5 targets 70 yards and a touchdown. He is Goffs favorite target as they had years of chemistry in their Rams days together, and even back then Reynolds put up a few double digit fantasy performers. The lions are decimated at pass catcher and Reynolds steps right up into their #1 WR spot for the remainder of the season, go out and get him now you wont regret it

2.) Davante Parker: Parker has been on IR for more than half the season. The former first rounder has immense talent, and when on the field he did score double digits in 3 games this season. A lot of owners couldnt roster him, and probably got fed up when he returned to the IR for the second time this season. If he is out there, he is a startable guy when healthy. He has a high ceiling with Tua throwing the ball so accurate and Waddle drawing a lot of attention elsewhere.

3.) Russel Gage: Gage caught 6/7 targets last week for. 62 yards and a TD. Since Ridley departed with mental health issues, there has been a huge void at wide reciever in Atlanta. Matt Ryan can still whip the ball around and this team is always playing from behind, so Gage is an attractive pickup as the #1 WR on the offense. He will contend for touches vs Pitts and Patterson, but I think there is enough passes to go around in ATL.

Quarterbacks

1.) Taysom Hill: If I was a saints fan, I would be genuinely upset that our upper management continues to throw money at this guy, 40 something million guarenteed to be a backup QB? SIGN ME UP. Regardless, Hill showed out in fantasy terms this past week dropping 26 points counting his 4 interceptions. He looked like the best runner on the team going for over 100 yards, and was able to still rack up 250 yards passing and a few TDS. I dont think hes going to be able to win real football games, but he should be able to get it done for your fantasy team.
2.) Tua Tuagliavo: As a Patriots fan this one hurts. He is widely available across leagues and he is deadly accurate. His final two games are against the Jets and New Orleans who are both in the bottom half of the league against the pass. He has the ability to rush for 50+ yards any given sunday as well. He has cooled off the past two week prior to posting a 23, 28, and 22 in 3 straight weeks. After the bye he is going to come back healthy, rested, and ready to stream you to a championship.

3.) Carson Wentz: I wasnt much of a believer in Carson when he was in Philly, and this offseason I stayed away from drafting Jonathon Taylor because of Wentz and Nelson being hurt (ouch). For this season though Wentz has flat out produced. He currently sits as the #14 overall scorer in Yahoo, and yet he is only owned in 68% of leagues. He has had two off weeks prior to his recent 23 point performance, so some owners may have dropped him in your league. The colts offense has been much better than expected this year, and they could make some noise as a darkhorse in the playoffs. He is someone worth streaming, especially next week vs Houston.

Do you guys agree or disagree with the names on this list? Was there some guys I may have left out? Please drop some names you think may help as I am in need of some waiver wire juice prior to the playoffs this week. Best of luck to all the arm chair couches out there.
