Gilas Pilipinas coach Yeng Guiao praised the team's rookies despite their defeat against Italy in the Fiba World Cup last night, 62-108.

Guiao praised the showing of CJ Perez and Robert Bolic in the 46-point beatdown of Gilas against Italy.

In that game, Perez finished with 15 points, as did the team's best performer last night, Andray Blatche.

Bolick, the youngest player on the team at 23, also showed unusual energy inside the court.

But their faces did not seem to be painted after the game because of their defeat against Italy.

From the beginning Gilas could not get the desired rhythm in the game.

They made several turnovers and many missed the three-point line.

The team's defense has been an advantage in Italy, which is why they scored early.

Charge to experience for the rookie players of our Gilas team. I am still proud of their hardwork and dedication in representing our country.
