Rabona - My End of Season 71 Update

Season 71 Strategy

Legion FC started the season 71 campaign in League 2. My current strategy is pretty simple. I don't believe I have the infrastructure to support a League 1 team, so my strategy is to stay within League 2 and grow my fanbase. Ideally, I would like to be middle to top of the table each season for increased rewards, but I don't expect to be competing for a promotion spot. The key for this period of my growth is to keep the on the pitch results as good as possible while keeping payroll at a minimum until the number of fans catches up to the ambitions of the club.

Season 71 Results

We finished 8th in the table for season 71. That is much lower than our 3rd place finish last season. I think last season my roster was probably too expensive and this season the results on the pitch were a little too low. I need to find a balance between the two.

We moved to over 60,000 fans as a result of another successful season. Building our fanbase is the #1 goal right now as we eye players with larger salaries and need a way to pay for them. This was about a 8,000 (13%) fan increase from last season.

Season 71 Financial Results

I managed to turn a nice profit this season - almost 500,000 RBN! That is a big change from the 800,000 loss last season. Below are the income/expenses.

I was probably too cheap this season. I plan to spend a little more on salaries next season to try and increase the fans a little faster. Below is my year over year results.

I got a nice owner bonus of .134 Hive this season. That is slightly less than the .177 Hive I earned last season. That is another reason I plan to spend some more on salaries this upcoming season.

Facilities Update

As I said in the strategy section, I am trying to grow my fanbase to grow into my infrastructure. I completed the upgrade to level the stadium to level 9 increasing the capacity to 6,000 seats. I found that charging 30 RBN per fan is still the best strategy. I attracted 3,770 fans to the last match when means I have plenty of room to grow before the next upgrade.

  • Stadium Capacity - Level 9
  • Catering Capacity - Level 8
  • Shop Capacity - Level 2
  • Hotel - Level 7
  • Parking Lot - Level 8
  • Office Building - Level 7
  • Building Yard - level 3
  • Youth Academy - Level 9
  • Training Center - Level 0

We are also focusing on our youth academy. That strategy may be a bit of a mistake financially. We enjoy seeing our home grown players take the pitch, and we hope our fans will enjoy that as well. It can also bring the cost of the squad down considerably and open the possibility of transfer fee income.

Squad

The season 71 squad was pretty thin. We let veteran Amir Persson go, but we still have veteran Michael Caruso for another year. We resigned Hanus Kopecky for a pretty hefty price. We let our goalkeeper and a few others go due to increased salary demands. We picked up a more affordable goalkeeper with a 75 goalkeeping skill. It is a bit of a downgrade, but still a good quality keeper.

We signed academy forward Charles Rousseau who is already a overall strength of 61 at age 17. We also signed OS 50 defender Arne Jelinek. His defending needs some work, but he has great passing and is very familiar with our formation. I'll try to train defense early in the season to get him up to speed. Our academy kids were heavy on the attacker side this round where we are pretty deep, so we only signed two kids total.

The per match cost is around 75,000 RBN. That is significantly more expensive than the 42,000 RBN in salaries we started with last year. I am a lot more confident in my current roster than last seasons though.

Season 72 Strategy

My season 71 strategy will be more of the same. The roster is much deeper than last season. I want to end somewhere in the 4-6 range and build another 10k or so fans. We will see how well that goes. I'm hoping to lose less than 500,000 RBN on the season.
