Season 73 Strategy

Legion FC started the season 73 campaign in League 2. My current strategy is pretty simple. I don't believe I have the infrastructure to support a League 1 team, so my strategy is to stay within League 2 and grow my fanbase. Ideally, I would like to be middle to top of the table each season for increased rewards, but I don't expect to be competing for a promotion spot. The key for this period of my growth is to keep the on the pitch results as good as possible while keeping payroll at a minimum until the number of fans catches up to the ambitions of the club. I spent the season out of town, so I had to be more strategic at the beginning of the season knowing I would not be able to set my lineup daily like I normally do.

Season 73 Results

We finished 8th in the table for season 73. I felt that was a good result given I didn't get to set my lineups and manage my team actively due to being out of town. I wanted to continue good results, but the main concern was being relegated.

We have moved to almost 85,000 fans as a result of another successful season. Building our fanbase is the #1 goal right now as we eye players with larger salaries and need a way to pay for them. This includes 7 matches into the 74th season since I was a little late getting a screenshot.

Season 73 Financial Results

We ended the season almost $200,000 RBN in the red. Below were our income/expenses.

I am happy with the financial results of the season. We were able to lose only 200,000 RBN while gaining some fans and keeping a spot in the middle of the table. Overall, a good result considering our manager was on vacation and not spending a lot of time looking at film.

The growth of fans has allowed us to get out of the deep red we had to run in for several seasons. The upgraded youth academy is starting to pay dividends for cheap players as well. The owners got a nice bonus of 0.134 Hive to help make the management of the team worthwhile.

Facilities Update

The stadium completed its upgrade to level 9. The average utilization is 71% right now and it takes 15 days to upgrade. I will wait a few more days before starting the next upgrade. The youth academy is now level 10 and in the process of upgrading to level 11. 11 of my 18 players were scouted recently in the academy and only costing 400 RBN per match. That really brings down the costs of the team. I was afraid investing in the youth academy would be bad financially, but until I start to make the push into league 1, it should help keep my salary expense down.

Squad

The season 74 squad is looking pretty good. We have a lot of young players which are driving the salary expense down even though we have 18 players with plenty of depth. Two veterans will anchor the club (Maciek Pawlak and Vittorio Marchetti). We will also feature some new faces including a goalkeeper we scouted with 100 goalkeeping skill. There is plenty of potential and the academy is growing strong! The best part may be that only 3 contracts expire at the end of the season.

Season 74 Strategy

My season 74 strategy will be more of the same. I'm not sure we have the infrastructure to make a run at league 1 yet, but I'm starting to see the light at the end of the tunnel. It may be worth making a run in the next few seasons. I am happy with the roster and think we can finish between 3-5 in the league.
