Season 76 Strategy

Legion FC started the season 76 campaign in League 2. My current strategy is pretty simple. I don't believe I have the infrastructure to support a League 1 team, so my strategy is to stay within League 2 and grow my fanbase. Ideally, I would like to be middle to top of the table each season for increased rewards, but I don't expect to be competing for a promotion spot. The key for this period of my growth is to keep the on the pitch results as good as possible while keeping payroll at a minimum until the number of fans catches up to the ambitions of the club. I'm using the youth academy to help with salary expense by scouting and playing young players.

Season 76 Results

We finished 6th in the table for season 76. That is a nice improvement from our 8th place finish last season. I am overall happy with the results, especially since we had a young and fairly inexpensive squad.

We increased about 16,000 fans over the last season. That is the biggest increase in a year that I've recorded. That makes the season a big success considering building the fanbase is our top priority until we can afford some bigger stars and compete for League 1.

Season 76 Financial Results

We ended the season with a profit of slightly more than 1.1 million RBN. That is the best season we've had to date from a purely financial standpoint. Income increased about 180k and expenses decreased by a little more than 100k. The increase in revenue was a similar increase to last year. I'm not sure I can reduce the expenses by much more than we already have. I could play a roster of only players on the rookie contract, but I'm not sure I could increase my fans as quickly with that young of a squad.

The chart below shows that the last four seasons have been slow increases of net income. We are getting close to a point where I can feel comfortable starting to compete for the top spot in the table.

It was a great year for us financially. The owners received a .151 bonus in Hive as well!

Facilities Update

As I said in the strategy section, I am trying to grow my fanbase to grow into my infrastructure. The current utilization of the stadium is 85%. That is an increase of 2% over the past season. The new stadium should be ready for season 78. I'm not sure we will need the capacity immediately, but it shouldn't take much longer. I will likely play with ticket prices to see if we can increase attendance once the update is done.

I am happy with the progress of the youth academy. 13 of 16 players on my roster are still on rookie contracts.

Squad

The season 76 squad is very young. We are short on defenders, but there are a few midfielders I think could fill in if needed. We have 3 goalkeepers which is unique. We scouted two good goalkeepers this season and our third goalkeeper's contract expires next season. I'm interested to see what kind of results this team can produce.

Season 77 Strategy

My season 77 strategy will be more of the same. The roster is very young. I'm hoping I can continue to grow net income while keeping the quality of play the same. I have a feeling I may need to pick up a player or two near the middle of the season to help increase quality. I need to start thinking about a strategy to start making a push for League 1. I imagine it will be a buildup of a few seasons to build a roster needed to succed.
