Season 78 Strategy

Legion FC started the season 78 campaign in League 2. My current strategy is pretty simple. I don't believe I have the infrastructure to support a League 1 team, so my strategy is to stay within League 2 and grow my fanbase. Ideally, I would like to be middle to top of the table each season for increased rewards, but I don't expect to be competing for a promotion spot. The key for this period of my growth is to keep the on the pitch results as good as possible while keeping payroll at a minimum until the number of fans catches up to the ambitions of the club. I'm creeping in on the finances needed to make a League 1 push - hopefully soon.

Season 78 Results

We finished 4th in the table for season 78! That is much higher than I expected given our results over the past few seasons and the youth of our squad. Last season was an 8th place finish which is significantly less. Only 3 of our players were not on a rookie contract. We also had some injury issues over the course of the season.

We increased almost 28k fans over the course of the season. That was slightly more than last year and significantly more than any other season. At this pace, our revenue should continue to grow quickly and put us in a situation to start competing for League 1.

Season 78 Financial Results

We continue to grow our net income each season. We had a big jump of revenue with a little over 400k this season. I think the fan growth was a big reason for that. Expenses also had a huge drop of a little over 300k. That was unexpected as the stadium and youth facilities continue to grow. Only running 3 non-rookie contracts in salaries makes a huge difference.

I was expecting some growth in net income, but I certainly didn't expect the amount of growth we had. It was a pleasant surprise.

The Hive bonus increased to .169 this season. Another bonus for an unexpectedly good finish in the table.

Facilities Update

As I said in the strategy section, I am trying to grow my fanbase to grow into my infrastructure. Stadium capacity is up to 63%, which is still pretty low. The high growth in fans should help those numbers increase. As you can see - we are still very profitable.

We completed another upgrade of the youth academy. I decided not to increase it again at this time due to the expenses we would incur. I'll start working on it again when I'm ready to make the jump to League 1.

Squad

The season 78 squad is young and thin. We are going to start the season with only 2 players not on a rookie contract. We signed some new defenders and attackers for the season, but the crop of new midfielders was not as good as we hoped. We may have to use some defenders in a defensive midfield role if we have issues with midfield depth.

Season 79 Strategy

My season 79 strategy will be more of the same. We will continue to leverage our young players to build some reserves and grow our fanbase. I'm not sure we are ready to compete at the next level, but I hate to sit back and wonder when we have the revenue to support some better players. It will take me some time to do some more research, but I feel like it is almost time to start looking to the future of a League 1 spot.
