Sometimes I like mid-week games and sometimes I dislike but that is what the English Premier League was made for. A lot of games were played but, unfortunately, we lost 3 games as a result of Covid19 but 7 games were displayed for us.

Earlier on Arsenal versus Wolverhampton game was postponed but Crystal Palace was able to battle their way out against Norwich City that is still winless in their 12 matches as they sit at rock bottom of the log. Southampton played a 1-1 draw with Tottenham Hotspur and made Antonio Conte remains unbeaten in 8 matches for the Spur. Watford was thrash by the Hammers as they came from a goal down to win the match and restore winning mentality to David Moyes team that has not a single game in their last 7 matches. Leicester City versus Liverpool was the match to the lookout but the Foxes never disappointed as they were knocked out in League Cup by the Red but it was time for payback as the Foxes won the match by an alone goal.

Wednesday was another round of fixtures as the League Leader were in action against a stubborn Brentford but a first-half goal by Foden was enough to salvage the whole 3 points for the Citizens but before Chelsea played out a 1-1 draw with Brighton at Stamford Bridge.

Thursday were 2 matches but Everton versus Newcastle United was postponed and Manchester United hosted Burnley at Old Trafford. The Red Devils won the match in the first half with 4 goals were scored in the first to seal 3 points for the home side and keep their top 4 hope alive as Burnley still lingers in the relegation zone.

With Liverpool and Chelsea drawing points and Manchester City winning their matches, it becomes obvious that they are running away with the league but at the moment we can not conclude yet. The matches are getting tougher and fatigued and injuries are hitting some teams but in all this, the table has taken a drastic change and this makes the League what is it.

I think the upcoming game between City and Arsenal will show whether Arsenal have actually improved or just got through by luck. Not saying Arsenal need to win, but a better showing should be show us that.

That is right unlike the opening of the season where they were humbled by the Citizens. 16 matches to go and the Africa cup of Nations is fast approaching, this will determine how far some clubs will go coupled with injuries.
