My Actifit Report Card: October 4 2022
Today has been a test I will not lie, often over the years as a parent you have to deal with bad behaviour.
It is very easy to get caught up in the moment and the high emotions especially when it comes to children.
They are are not in control of these emotions yet and as a parent or guardian it is up to us to take charge.
We have to bring them up to our level not go down to theirs and we have to be cool about it.
No matter how you feel inside it is not valid to lose control because you should know better and your actions teaches.
I do not believe in any physical punishment it really is not warranted and sends a completely wrong message.
It is also traumatising the child and strains the relationship, how can a child trust you if you hit it?
No instead you must treat them with respect and talk it out with them in a calm manner.
Then be sure they understand that the behaviour was wrong and why?
Ask them to explain it to you so you are sure they really do understand.
Obviously you have to enforce some kind of punishment for bad behavior i always found most effective is taking away the thing they like to do most for a period of time.
But you could also try some extra chores assigned to their responsibility.
If they are young you can try timeouts appropriate to their age.
After events like this to ensure my energy gets grounded I like to take a brisk walk.
It helps you work your feelings out, replenish your energy as well as get some physical benefits as well as clear your mind.
I did a circuit in my village to get some space once everything was balanced.
I didn't go to the pub I just walked past it.
I live in a village so there is some nice places to walk that are pretty quiet.
Going for a walk can really clear away any negative residual as well as recharge you.
It is tough being a parent but is ultimately also one of the best experiences just like everything in life with ups and downs
You are being a parent till you die if your doing it right so probably best you make those relationships work.
Love, patience and wisdom it's a journey.
