Con tan solo 27 años, Yuzuru ha sido catalogado como el mejor patinador del mundo dado a sus logros en el deporte, no solo en premiaciones obtenidas, mejores records y técnicas, sino en innovar, ya que es el primero y único en lograra una serie de saltos complicados seguidos uno tras otro.

Yuzuru empezó su prometedora carrera como deportista a los 4 años de edad, después de ver a su hermana mayor patinar. Yuzuru began his promising career as an athlete at the age of four, after watching his older sister skate. He said the shape of a figure moving across the ice was a hypnotic dance that he identified with, so he asked his mother to train as well. At the end of the day, it was he who stayed in the sport and showed true passion for it.
Hanyu demostró tener un talento innato para el deporte. Disciplina, habilidad, resistencia y técnica para cada salto y una postura, gracia y elegancia para las coreografías. La gran diferencia que marca Yuzuru es que en sus propias palabras, él no basa sus rutinas en obtener el mayor puntaje, sino en disfrutar ese momento al máximo, ese en el que vuelca sus sentimientos por el deporte y por el arte en sí mismo, los grandes puntajes vienen a raíz de eso y para él, es algo secundario.
The big difference Yuzuru makes is that in his own words, he does not base his routines on getting the highest score, but on enjoying that moment to the fullest, the one in which he pours his feelings for the sport and for the art itself, the great scores come as a result of that and for him, it is secondary.
En 2014, Yuzuru colisionó con otro patinador, durante el calentamiento en pista. Ambos se lesionaron pero Yuzuru resultó el más herido y a pesar de que su entrenador le pidió que no participara en la competencia, el decidió hacerlo. In 2014, Yuzuru collided with another skater during the warm-up on the track. Both were injured but Yuzuru was the most injured and despite his coach asking him not to participate in the competition, he decided to do so. As he later explained, he knew he was not fit enough to perform his routine as he should have but his intention was not to get the best score but to show people that you should always persevere and face your fears so that you will never be afraid again.

Yuzuru suffered several falls during her performance in which he demonstrated his mesmerising style and staging. He waited for his score and got one of the highest, which he didn't expect at all and made him sob with emotion, a little later he said that it was very exciting, touching and gratifying to know that perseverance always pays off in some way or another because although he didn't expect that high score, he was already smiling just by getting the affection of his audience.

Siempre agradece gritando al público y cuando puede, ayuda a recoger los Winney the pooh que le arrojan a la pista tras finalizar sus rutinas o ayuda a recoger los micrófonos y el equipo al terminar las entrevistas, es bastante, amable, noble, amoroso, considerado, perseverante, humilde y muy alegre.
It's not just his skating skills that make most of the world fall in love with Yuzuru Hanyu, but his warmth and human qualities. According to other skaters, for a Japanese guy, Yuzuru is quite outgoing, sociable and even trusting, which makes it easy to befriend and like him, and he is also very affectionate so he is always giving hugs. He is quite noble and humble because when there are competitors who have beaten him, he always congratulates them very happily with a hug and encourages them before their routines.
