Right.

I'm going to do something I do every time I post on here. I'm going to write this out, hit publish, watch the tumbleweeds roll past, and then get a notification three days later from someone in a timezone I've never heard of telling me it's a great post.

And I'll love every second of it.

Because that's Hive, isn't it. The blockchain where the community is technically alive, the rewards are genuinely real, the tech is legitimately impressive, and yet somehow you can shout into the void and the void doesn't just shout back — it upvotes you.

The Competition That 100 Of You Are Ignoring

We launched Last Man Standing on SportsBlock this week and I need you — yes, you, the person who found this post somehow — to go and enter it.

Who cares if you don't like football.

No entry fee. No catch. No "just stake 500 tokens first." Nothing. You click a button, you're in, you pick a Premier League team to win each week, and if you're the last one standing at the end of the season you walk away with 200 HIVE and 5,000 MEDALS. We are funding ourselves with money like we always did back in the day. I buy 200 Hive on Binance and transfer it to my account. And then when there is a winner, I send them the prize money. It's a good system which does not take from the Community. We take the hit.

We at Sportsblock have a rule. We will never ask for any funding EVER but what we are looking for is support, reblogs to increase the userbase and hopefully kickstart an increase active users for sports related content. Our website is pretty cool and cost us a princely sum of around 60 quid to make for a domain name and a few bees tokens to create our MEDALS token. That's the power of Hive. It does not cost much to build on top of because Hive is one large database. I think @beggars would agree with me on this.

Anyway back to the contest . Real money. For free. On a blockchain that approximately 100 people actively use.

How It Works (For The One Person Who Doesn't Know)

Every gameweek you pick one team to win. They win, you survive. They draw or lose, you're out. Simple.

The twist — and it's a good one — is that you can only use each team once across the whole competition. So you can't just pick Man City every week. You have to be strategic. You have to think. You have to use your brain, which if you're anything like me after a Saturday afternoon on the sofa, is asking a lot.

Forget to pick? We'll auto-assign you a team alphabetically from your remaining options. You're welcome. Or sorry. Depends on the week.

Last person surviving wins. Everyone goes out in the same week, the prize is shared. Beautiful chaos.

A Quiet Word To The Bigger Accounts

I don't usually do this. But I'm going to.

SportsBlock is something we've been building properly. Not another Hive community that launches with a whitepaper, hands out tokens to curators for three weeks, and then disappears when the founder gets bored. We've got a real platform — full Hive accounts from day one, a token with actual thought behind the economics, live match threads, prediction features, a native MEDALS token on Hive-Engine, and a team that's been grinding away at this since last October. We have "decline rewards" on our sportsbites containers unlike the others so we are trying do right by Hive. The team have been around since the days of Steem so we are veterans at this stage who always have the future of Hive at heart. Where we come from we make fun of our best friends the most. But if anyone was to do wrong by our best friend then the chariots would circle and that friend is protected. So when I take the piss out, I mean well.

We're launching in April but we are live now sorting out the bugs. Last Man Standing is one of the first things going live. And we genuinely believe that a thriving sports community is one of the things Hive has been missing for years.

So if you're one of the larger accounts on here — the ones with the VP that can make a difference, the ones who remember when communities actually grew on this chain — it would mean a lot if you had a look at what we're doing. A vote. A reblog. A comment that says "fair play." Whatever you can spare.

We're not asking for charity. We're asking for the kind of support that the Hive ecosystem used to be famous for — backing projects that are doing things the right way.

We'd appreciate you more than we can say. And we'll probably still post into the void regardless. But it'd be nice to have some company in there.
