Last Man Standing Results Week 1. 28 People Walk Into A Pub. None Of Them Picked A Winner.

Well.

That went well.

We launched Last Man Standing on SportsBlock last week. We asked Hive to show up. And — genuinely, I'm still slightly emotional about this — 40 people actually entered. Forty. On Hive. In 2026. I checked twice because I thought it was a glitch.

We put out a post, tagged half the blockchain, begged some of the bigger accounts for a bit of love, and people actually came. That's not nothing. That's actually something. I'm choosing to be proud of that and not think too hard about the 50,000 accounts that ignored us.

And then Gameweek 30 happened.

The Carnage

28 of you are out.

Twenty. Eight.

In one week. One gameweek. One solitary round of Premier League football and more than half the field is already sitting at home wondering where it all went wrong.

Now I could be gracious about this. I could say "tough week, loads of surprises, these things happen in football."

But I'm not going to do that. Because some of the decisions made last week were genuinely indefensible and someone needs to say it.

The Hall Of Shame

@blanchy — Out. Yes, me. I built this competition, I set it up, I wrote the post, I tagged everyone I've ever met on this blockchain, and I went out in Week 1. I picked someone utterly ridiculous and paid the price. I am not ready to talk about who I picked. I may never be ready. Let's move on.

@niallon11 — Out. This is the man who handles our tokenomics. Our financial architect. The person responsible for making sure SportsBlock makes sound, strategic decisions. Gone. Week 1. I have no words. Actually I do — Niall, mate, what were you thinking?

@cryptoandcoffee — A man who writes about financial markets, investments, and making smart choices. Out in Week 1. The irony is doing laps.

@doombot75 — The username alone suggested this was coming.

@talesfrmthecrypt — In fairness, @talesfrmthecrypt, the name was a warning.

@deniskj — Out. @godfish — Out. @twicejoy — Out. @tengolotodo — Out (he had so much left to do). @blockchainfpl — A man who literally plays FPL professionally, eliminated in round one of a football prediction game.

@deirdyweirdy — Somehow appears in the eliminated list twice. I don't know how. I'm not investigating. It feels right.

@shitsignals — Genuinely, with a username like that, what were we expecting.

Sort of. Not really. This is a Last Man Standing competition. The clue is in the name.

Week 2 — The Deadline

Friday. That's the deadline. Friday.

Gameweek 31 picks need to be in before the first match kicks off. Get on sportsblock.app, go to the Contests section, and submit your pick for the week. Think carefully. Remember which teams you've already used. And for the love of all that is holy, don't pick the same team as me — whoever I would have picked — because clearly my instincts cannot be trusted.

A Genuine Thank You

Look, beneath all of this — and I do mean beneath — 40 people showed up for something new on a blockchain that gets told it's dying approximately once a fortnight. Some of the bigger accounts noticed. People reposted. There were comments.

That actually matters. We're building something here — a proper sports platform with real competitions, real rewards, a token that's been thought through, and a community that we genuinely think Hive has been missing for years. SportsBlock launches in April and Last Man Standing is just the opening act.

So to the 12 still standing — make your Week 2 pick. To the 28 who are out — come back next competition and make better choices. And to everyone who showed up, reposted, voted, or just had a read — thank you. Genuinely.
