⚽ Last Man Standing — Week 3 Update | 4 Survivors, 1 Ghost, And A 3-Week Wait

We started with 40.
We have 4 left.
Four. Out of forty. After two gameweeks. That's a 90% casualty rate. I've seen horror films with better survival odds than this competition. I've seen Hive onboarding funnels with better conversion rates than this competition. And that's really saying something.

But before we get to the glorious four who are still standing, we need to talk about someone.

The Amirtheawesome1 Situation

Right.
So @amirtheawesome1 came into Week 2 on the back of surviving Week 1. Alive. In the competition. With a legitimate shot at 200 HIVE and 5,000 MEDALS.
And he didn't pick.
He didn't. Pick.
No team selected. No auto-pick override. No "sorry lads I was busy." Just... nothing. A blank. A void where a football prediction should have been. The system auto-assigned him a team alphabetically from his available pool and that team — through no fault of its own — did not win.
@amirtheawesome1, you were awesome enough to survive Week 1. You were not awesome enough to open a website and click a button in Week 2. The name is doing a lot of heavy lifting right now and I think it's time for a serious conversation about rebranding to @theywereawesome1.
Gone. Auto-picked out of his own competition.
I genuinely don't know whether to be angry or impressed. That takes a special kind of energy.

The Carnage This Week

Let's have a quick run through the rest of the fallen before we celebrate our survivors.
@bitandi — picked Chelsea. Chelsea. In a week where picking Chelsea was the bold choice and the bold choice was wrong. Farewell.
@novamind — Man United. I have nothing to say. You picked Man United in 2026 and expected a win. That's on you.
@lumpiadobo — Liverpool. Listen, Liverpool are not good anymore, we have to realise this, Week 2 was just not the week. That hurts.
@dewabrata — also Man United. There were two of you. TWO people picked Man United this week. I don't have the capacity to process this.
@jmehta — Tottenham. Brave. Wrong. Gone.
@uwelang — Chelsea. So we had two Chelsea pickers as well. Bold strategy from everyone involved. It did not pay off.
@mondoshawan — Liverpool. Three Liverpool pickers. Three! Liverpool, Man United and Chelsea between them eliminated seven people. The Premier League's most popular clubs claiming victims as usual.

The Four Who Remain

Okay. Now for the bit that actually matters.
Out of the original 40, these four have made it through two rounds of genuine Premier League chaos and are still standing:
🟢 @gwajnberg — Picked Aston Villa this week. Aston Villa won. Simple, clean, efficient. This person may know what they're doing.
🟢 @onemanonewrite — Picked Wolves this week. Wolves won. Also may know what they're doing, or is extremely lucky. At this stage both are equally valid.
🟢 @valentin86 — Also picked Aston Villa. When two people independently land on the same correct pick in a week where everyone else is collapsing around them, I have to respect it.
🟢 @zusi78 — Picked Fulham. Fulham won. A man (or woman, I don't actually know) of culture and taste.
Four people. Standing. The prize — 200 HIVE and 5,000 MEDALS — is getting closer for all of them. The competition is just getting started.

Now The Annoying Part: International Break

Before anyone gets too excited about making their next pick, I have some news.
We have a three-week international break.
Yes. The Premier League has decided, as it does every year, to pause all the fun at exactly the most dramatic moment and send everyone off to play meaningless qualification matches that nobody asked for. We will reconvene in April, slightly older, slightly more anxious, and hopefully with fewer incidents of forgetting to submit picks.
Gameweek 32 returns the weekend of 11–13 April. Picks will open when we're back and the deadline will be confirmed before the first ball is kicked.

@gwajnberg and @valentin86 — you've both used Aston Villa. Forest v Aston Villa is off the table for you. Plan accordingly.
@onemanonewrite — Wolves are locked. West Ham v Wolves is gone for you.
@zusi78 — Fulham are locked. Liverpool v Fulham is unavailable. Which is a shame because Liverpool at home felt like a nice safe option. It is not a nice safe option for you.

Twenty teams. Four players. Everyone's already lost one option. The decision-making begins now. You have three weeks to agonise over it. Use them wisely.

A Word From The Prize Fund Department
I should mention at this point that @blanchy — the person writing this post, the person who organised this competition, the person who went out in Week 1 like an absolute clown — is under a certain amount of financial pressure to keep producing quality content on SportsBlock to help fund the prize pot.
The 200 HIVE and 5,000 MEDALS that the winner walks away with isn't sitting in a vault somewhere. It needs to be earned. Through posts. On Hive. By me.
I went out Week 1. The competition I built. And now I'm writing blog posts to fund the prize for the four people who weren't as catastrophically bad at it as I was.
This is fine. This is absolutely fine. I'm fine.
