Spurs Knocked Out of Champions League With A Whimper

I haven't posted in a week as I was busy with other projects at the minute. Bu I was excited around Wednesday night so I put the call out to the few Spurs supporters we had in my hometown and we said we would meet up to watch the AC Milan game in the Champions League. Spurs have been poor all season. With their attacking wealth they should not be struggling to score goals. We had 2 goals in 7 matches before this tie. In hindsight I actually do not know why I was excited. I have watched every one of Tottenhams games this season and it is the worse I have ever seen us play, ever. Even under Mourinho, even under Gerry bloody Francis. Spurs were always an attacking team. On our logo is are the words Audere Est Facere meaning To dare is to do. So seeing Conte bringing on Davison Sanchez in the place of Kuluevski with 13 minutes to goal was not doing much daring. Spurs were one nil down going into the second leg of the Champions League tie but we were at home with a massive crowd spuring them on. Milan are not the AV Milan of old either. They are only OK. So they were there for the taking. After 20 minutes it was clear to see that the team weren't up for it. Something was a miss.

They were set up defensively as usual, not great when you are 1 nil down. Spurs are a counter attacking team now and we are great against the teams that attack us such as Man City, Leeds, Southampton. The teams that sit back are a different story. It means we have to take the game to them and this is where the problem is. We can't break a team down.

Also Contes system is his system and he will not change that for anyone. The 5 at the back with wing backs has won him leagues and he refuses to budge. This leaves the two Centre Midfields with a mammoth task of holding back 3 mindfielders in the opposing site. It doesn't matter if we have the best Central Midfielder in the world. When the opposition is outnumbering you it is hard to survive. On the other hand this is where the wing backs come in. They are meant to be our attacking players. It is why the midfield is sacrificed. Peresic has fallen off a cliff and Emerson Royal, no matter how hard he tries is never a wing back. Spurs have signed Pedro Porro and Destiny Udogie as wing backs. Destiny comes at the end of the season. Porro is finding his feet but it is too late. We are out of the cup competitions and can now only focus on top 4. Liverpool are starting to fire at the moment so I doubt we will get this either so it will be a wake up call. The fact is that Liverpool and Chelsea are having abnormally bad seasons is the reason Spurs are in 4th place.

Conte's comments after the game saying he can't create miracles is a load of shite. He is being paid 15 million pound a year to beat the likes of Sheffield United and a lacklustre AC Milan. He speaks of Milans history but we have a better team than them. Milan played well against us but they created very little. So little in fact that I lost a bet builder. I always do a little bet on Spurs matches and this one was a shoe in. Oh until Spurs did not manage 3 or more shots on target. That is a very very bad stat that is.

Richarlison was giving out that he didn't get his place last Wednesday and I can see why he is angry because Sonny was hiding on Wednesday and I think Richarlison would have played better. He is going to get in trouble for his comments but it is good to see a player speaking out at Tottenham.

We go into the game at Forest tomorrow and I really don't think Conte will be there. The club are probably trying to secure Poch in the background. Spurs fans sung that they want him back in the stadium the other night and I am one of them. As a friend of mine said in the pub the other night. I would rather lose 5 -4 to AC Milan than to be knocked out with this driven. He is right. Poch might not have got Spurs a trophy but we were not far off and we played great football. So Antonio thanks for the last year but head back home to your family and take the Inter job. Let us pack your bags for you. Cheers for the jumping around and having a row with Tuchel but your football is bland and the players are sick of you.

There has been rumblings for some time about the teams training times being changed regularly and this has made the team pissed off as they all have plans and families that they have to change plans with at the drop of a hat. We have some of the best attacking talent in the world so to say we need a miracle to progress against a bad AC Milan team in the Champions League must piss them off as well. Spurs will cash in on Kane at the end of the season. Levy does not want to sell him to anEnglish club but Man United may push the boat out and make an offer than can't be refused. For me I think he should go. He has been a great servant for the club and good luck to him. In a way though Harry has not shown up on the big nights for Spurs. The Champions League final which he pushed himself to play even though he was injured. League Cup finals. FA Cup semi finals. Disappearing. I am well aware this may be controversial but if a new manager comes in maybe we need to start making big changes. Bring back Scarlett and give him a chance and see how he gets on. He has been tipped as the best striker of his generation already and he is only 17. The next few days at Tottenham will be very very interesting but I think weshould cut our losses with Antonio. Get Poch in, try and get top 4 and build in the summer.

Spurs have £227 million in the bank this year. The most of any club in Europe. Shrewd investments and stadium revenue has made us a financial powerhouse. It is time now to start really spending on an entire new team with a totally different culture. Will Levy do this? I very much doubt it. He will need to sell for Spurs to really move forward. This man has been linked as well. Some people say never go back but if Luis Enrique came aboard I would be quite happy as well.

So there we have it. Agony being a Spurs fan. This is what happened me 41 years ago by my dad who lived in London for 20 years. I have passed my plight onto my 2 year old. He was not happy.
