Tipster Arena The New Site. One Week In

I mentioned in a post last week that I created a website but like I always do I decided to jump straight into the deep end. Having not even created a static website before I now have this thing that includes databases, staging enviroments , production environments and a system that allows you to monitor results from sporting events. I just kept going and by making mistakes and using AI to fix them I finally got what I wanted . A functioning website.

Background

Just so you know I'm not a compulsive gambler. Far from it in fact. I would really only bet on football which I am quite handy at. I try and stay clear of accumulators as the odds in these coming in are stacked in the bookies favour. I usually go for results which I win more than I lose. People forget that whatever the outcome the bookies win as the actual odds of what you get are not the actual probability of the win or draw. So the bookies are covered. In order to win in betting you have to be very disciplined and structured. And if you win too much the bookies kick you out. I do not know too much around horse racing other than I live close to the most famous stud in the world so sports tips leak out of these places and naturally people around the town of Fethard Tipperary have a flutter. But even some of these tips do not come in. So if the people in the know lose a few then how are people beating the system. It got me interested in some of the Sports Tipsters that claim they are up lots of money. Some have Discord channels or Patraeon pages which you pay to sign up to.
Curiousity was killing me so I signed up for one guy before Cheltenham two years ago. The tipster uploaded his tips daily. This guy had a large following in his thousands charging about 20 pound per month for the privilege. The bets were OK but they were not out of this world. He would back clear favourites (naturally) but the odds were terrible. When these favourites which were a class above the rest won, he would go online and bleat on about it. His losses were brushed aside and even deleted. He always claimed he was up money and if anyone did not use his points system then they were idiots. Many people hated this guy but stayed online for the tips coming from the chat. Some guys had great tips and started forming their own telegram group. They were then kicked out of the original tipsters page for trying to steal users.

Creating

I really disliked this guy so I started dabbling in creating a site that would be a platform to leave your sports tips. At first I used a traditional design and hired some guy to do it on Fivver but it turns out I knew more about web development. But this guy was using django which was new to me. So I started dabbling in Django and away I went in March.

I was surprised how much there would be in web development. I think I made every mistake you could make but you learn from these and it is better than any course you can do if you actually just plough in and do it. I also found that there is no getting away from javascript or typescript so I had to face the demon and just get on with it.

The website

So you can find the website at www.tipster-arena.com . I made it free. So the idea is to post sports tips. Your sports tip will go into the database and when the fixture or match is played then your tip will come up as a win, placed or loss. So what you ask?

Well every time you tip the system takes note so you are ranked in how good your tips are. So the best tipsters will rise to the top of the Top Tipster Leaderboard. They will be followed by more of the community and in the end the Community will be winning as well if the tips are good. So in theory you could be a shelve stacker who is good at predicting the rugby and have an unknown talent of predicting winners. They may have a better ranking than our tipster with 20,000 followers. Everyone is judged equally. I made the site free so anyone can sign up and leave a tip. The goal is to get as many users as possible before I start adding some premium features to it. So if we take a look at the interface below we have the 3 most common sports betting sports in Europe. Football , Golf and Horse Racing. We are on the horse racing feed below. You can see a user PepsiPapi has posted a number of horse racing tips. PepsiPapi has been relatively successful winning 2 races. The system picks up the wins and a green win is posted beside his tip. If he loses then a red loss is visible. The tip is in pending status if the tip has yet to be played.

Posting a Tip

So a user posts a tip by clicking the Post Tip button in the the nav bar.
This modal window appears. So the user can select whether to give the sports tip to everyone or just his followers. The user then selects a sport. We have a drop down menu of around 20 sports and each sport has its own tip feed which is great for users who are only looking for one sport. If you know the odds then you can put them in in decimal or fractional format. The bet type will be single , double treble etc and the confidence rating is whether the user is sure of his or her bet. Click on post tip and the tip will appear in the specific sports tip feed. For users who want to see every sport then the home feed will show a mix of tips from every sport.

Why Should Pro Tipsters Post on My Platform??

Every Tipster say they are the best and they are all competing with each other and trying to downplay the other one. In Tipster Arena any bet that is placed is tracked so we can do the metrics on who actually is the best. Now these metrics are based on not just a win rate. I can tell you Man City are going to beat Sunderland if they are winning by 4 - nil at half time. Many tipsters give you bankers and their win rate is high. But we have weighted odds included so the longer the odds then the more points are scored. So quantity will not outdo quality. I am not predicting many tipsters will join immediately but as the userbase grows they may dip their beak in. Also we do not mind self promotion so the best tipster could end up attracting people to their own page. We are not against this either. They can self promote all they want.

Why should we go to your platform for tips??

Well if there are users winning alot then why not. I follow some football tipsters myself and I am interested to see their thinking behind some games. I may follow these guys and copy their tips. If their win rate is high then why not all of us beat the bookies.

Top Tipster Leaderboard

So after a user wins a tip like I mentioned above , we rank the tipsters in how much they won. We have our own @niallon11 in 3rd because his tip from the famous Galway races in his hometown was a winning one and the horse was placed.

The Hard Part

Getting the website design right and the whole inner workings was difficult but inexpensive but the marketing part is where the big bucks comes in. I have marketed the site on TikTok to relatively good view count but this site is for a particular niche so I am going to aim over the next couple of weeks to slowly bring in different betting Communities. The site still has bugs so I am not wanting too much traffic while I sort these out but the website is live so I encourage all my hive homeys to signup , make an avatar (which I am having problems with) and post a tip.

Great work, mate! Hope it's a little like OLBG before it went shit. I did win a few quid in their tipster comps back in the day and the boards there were really informative.

I'll give your site a good look over later.

I would have said it was 100% win rate for my tips since i called an each way bet :D

Do you have to manually verify every tip or can it be automated from one of the betting sites?

(Edited)

There was a debate over a placed bet whether it should be 100% win rate. If memory serves me correct the horse came third . I need to look into this a bit more . A placed bet is essentially 2 bets. A win and a place. So the system picked up that you did not win 0% and you win a place which is 100% of 50% therefore 50% but I need to look at this because it depreciates the tip. However it does not promote tipsters to place a win either so it's a debate in the industry about how to call E/W tips but we may call them 100% win and see what happens. What we don't want is tipsters going each way just to protect their win % . Bets are automated but i can verify as an admin

I am not into such sites but I tested it for you. I noticed the password security is too weak. It doesn't require a strong password. So my feedback is to not allows users setting up weak passwords.

Other than that, I have no idea what are these odds etc. It's just dummy data to test.

If u can see my password, you can check it xD

A password shouldn't be password123 or something stupid. There r ways to try such combinations and it's easy to hack. There r machines like usbs that when inserted can find such combinations and unlock stuff. You can Google it more.

12345, 54321, password123, and many such passwords are currently accepted in your website.

tools like John the Ripper or Hashcat are commonly used by cybercriminals to crack weak passwords like 12345 or Password123 in seconds
