VAR not Tottenham's Friend This Week

It was all going so swimmingly. We beat West Ham in the cup on the 21st to shut them up for a while and get our revenge on the league result. Then we went to Palace on the 26st who would be considered a bogey team of ours. They beat us 3 - 0 earlier in the season with Tananga getting sent off for a foul on Zaha. Zaha got sent off in this one so it was a walk in the park. Southampton would be tougher and they proved that they were. Again the opposition had a player sent off in the first half but Spurs could not capitalise. I won't go into a full review of the game as a couple of people on Sportstalk will do that for me but there were 3 goals disallowed. Kane was deemed offside for one of the goals. I thought that VAR had stopped this offside by a whisker stuff. I was too close to call and he should have been gvven the benefit of the doubt really. Davis was disallowed a goal which was fair enough but the other disallowed goal was an apparent push on the keeper by Docherty which was never a push so two goals should have stood. As the game went on I knew it wasn't our day so I had settled with a draw and a ruined accumulator.
A couple of things that were positive was that Harry Winks set up two of the disallowed goals. He is playing on the front foot now and he was our best player on the pitch.
The other positive was that Byran Gill got some more game time over Ndombele. Conte doesn't fancy Tanguy because he is a lazy bastard and needs out of our club. A Youtube player who cannot put in a 90 minutes shift. I'm happy with this and hopefully Paradici has a move ready for him in January.

Dele got a rare start after his good performance against Liverpool but Conte had him out on the right and this did not work. I dunno about him. I think he needs selling as well for the benefit of him and Spurs. Some say he is mixing with the wrong people and he needs a move abroad. Poch still fancy's him but I think he has fallen out of love with football. He needs selling as well.
And Los Celso who has been with us since 2019 and has done fuck all even though he plays out of his skin for Argentina and is Messi's favourite player got injured again in the .... wait for it...... warm down. You could't make it up. Get rid of him as well. Jesus Christ.

I am really looking forward to January to see who Paradici and Conte bring in. Dušan Vlahović is meant to be seriously considering a move. The rumour going around London at the moment is that Kane has signed a new contract but Tottenham cannot announce it until they get Vlahovic over the line. The alpha dog would not like the other alpha dog staying so they have to keep it quiet to get him. Wouldn't that be an interesting one. Conte is lining up another centre half as well. This topped off with our best Centre half returning from injury and it should be an interesting January. We also have Chelsea 3 times in a row that month starting with the 4th.
With Watford on New Year's Day which should be an easy 3 points we are then into the Chelsea games. Conte will want to prove a point here against his previous club so I think everyone wants to teach them a lesson as they are faltering at the moment.
Anyone that wants to see Paradici at work then just watch All or Nothing Juventus and you will see him in action. The guy is a serial winner and it was him that took Ronaldo to their club. Albeit it did not work out for Juventus in the end but he still got him there and he still ended up being the top goalscorer in the league.
Anyway it is exciting times at Tottenham having been undefeated now in Conte's seven matches. A record for a Tottenham manager. I still cannot believe he is at the club.

As Jamie Carragher said on MNF Spurs have not had a world class manager in his prime since Bill Nicholson. What's that you say. Poch and Jose?? Jose was way off his prime. Poch was learning his trade and I don't think we have seen him in his prime as of yet and he has not won enough to be in this elite group yet. But look at the running stats. He has them off the sandwiches and ketchup apparently and the food in the canteen is now super healthy. He demands peak physical condition so that's a few players out of the question already. He will weed these out between this transfer window and the next so he can get in a couple of his own players. Exciting times in the next couple of weeks.

I agree, we were unlucky with a couple of the disallowed goals.

Fraser Forster is over 2 metres tall + the length of his arms. If he doesn't use that to his advantage why does the attacking player get penalised?

At the same time, Spurs have had a problem breaking down teams for the last few seasons ever since Eriksen decided he wanted out and we sold Dembele. In many ways we probably stood a better chance of winning when Southampton had a 11 men and were playing that high line. It was only a matter of time before we got in again.

Selling Dembele was a very bad move, both for him and Spurs. Not for his bank account though! 😉

I think with Dembele we knew we couldn't get a full season out of him anymore so we weren't prepared to offer him a contract extension. My view would be to get a replacement in before you sell. Even if he's only good for 25 games a season then it allows you to bed a new player in.

He was such a key player for Spurs. That ability to beat players in tight midfield areas created a lot of space for guys like Alli, Eriksen and Kane.

I get your point, he was incredible for the Belgian Squad too, him and Wistel on the the 6 and 8 position and De Bruyne as number 10 was a midfield of dreams, sadly since he went to China he is out of the picture

Hi, beautiful write-uo.
Nice to see Tottenham faithfuls here, not a usual sight for me. I still think that Clint Demsey of a guy who came in same time as Dembele, was treated unfairly by Spurs. Such a consistently brilliant and dogged, goal scoring midfielder like Lampard or Mount.

Well that is history now and his absence was Dembele's "presence" and he did so well with his silky moves, beating players as he drove forward. I trust Conte sees the challenges in the middle of the park, indeed he is such a blessing of a coach to have.

I would appreciate your positive gestures:

Conte is the real deal and Spurs are going to challenge next season and will be top 4 this year. He is quality and you are lucky to have him.
