Worst Match of the Season For Spurs

While watching the Spurs versus Everton match last Monday night, I noticed that Tottenhams acting coach had a yellow object in his pocket. Was it a notebook or was it some kind of card? Nope it looked like a pager. Why would anyone need a pager when his staff were all around him. The acting manager made very little changes to the team that had played the last few matches under Antonio Conte. In fact very little in style had changed. When Stellini was appointed I was asking myself why would they keep Contes number 2 on. He has been with his boss for years and Antonio rehired him after a scandal in Italy. He was his number 2 at Inter and he will be his number 2 again next season. So you can say that being with Conte has given Stellini a pretty nice life. As the hotdog vendor says to Marge in the Simpsons. "Madam He has put my kids through college". Stellini is not going to change his style up and risk the wrath of his task master for the next 10 games of the season. In fact if anything his boss may be given him a couple of tips. Maybe even on a yellow pager.

Spurs were terrible against Everton. They played most of the 2nd half against 10 men but they could not put them to the sword. The wing back system is really only useful for counter attacks so the extra man did not really make a difference. In order to take advantage of a sending off, most teams would flood the midfield. Not Spurs though. We were sticking to our system for hell or high water. We only made two changes that game. 1 was Davison Sanchez for a tired Lenglet. The other was Lucas Moura. A moment player who has not had a moment now for the last year. Moura immediately got send off for a silly tackle. But I wonder with a Champions League player in Danjuma on the bench why didn't they bring him on. Moura is gone at the end of the season anyway because we have not renewed his contract so why not try out the loan signing rather than a player that is gone anyway.

Sonny was terrible again. He is going to be the next Dele Ali. The ball bounces off him and he is always on the back foot. So from the start Spurs are playing with 10 men. Kulueskis form has taken a nose dive since the worls cup. Romero is a red card waiting to happen. Eric Dier thinks he is a still a Central Midfielder. Peresic is knackered after 30 minutes but yet plays the 90 minutes. Kane is scoring but we now have a Ronaldo situation where we have a goal machine but he does little else. I feel now that in order to move on we have to say goodbye to Harry. If he wants to go he should go and we will thank him for being one of Spurs's best ever players but I don't want to beg any player to stay. We move on and we build a team of hard pressers again.

Brighton is a massive game at the weekend. If we lose this then Champions League qualification hangs in the balance and Levy will be forced to play a hand. We are at home so the fans will be going mad. Everyone is gooing mad since Everton. There will be a season ticket increase coming and the fans will more than likely vote with their wallets. The style of play needs to improve as it has been piss poor since Mourinhos era.
The good news is that teams such as Burnley and Arsenal looked like they have turned things around in a year so I am confident that it can be turned around. We have the infrastructure but the culture is lacking and we need to settle on a style of play and stick to it. The wing back system does not work. Midfielders are needed in the Premiership. Look at the effect that Casemiro had on Man United.

The past week has probably been the most turbulent week of all time for Spurs. We had Conte's separation after his outburst. Then nobody from Spurs came forward. Mourinho's departure press release was signed by Paradici. Contes one was signed by Levy. So where was Paradici?? The following Monday Paradici appeared in his house in the most grainy web cam known to man. The wifi must be bad around his place. He issued a statement around Conte. Video production was terrible. On the Tuesday morning at 11am FIFA announced that Paradici was banned from not only Italian football but world football over his time at Juventus. There was supposed shock at Spurs which I find hard to believe but they would not have asked Paradici to issue an update if they knew he would be banned the next day. So with Paradici now unable to fulfill his role he stepped down until his appeal date on the 21st April. If the appeal stands then I think we will see the back of our Director of Football.

So as it stands we have no manager , no ladies manager, no Director of Football. Some rumours are that if Paradici steps down it will pave the way for Poch to come back as it is rumoured that Paradici does not fancy him at all. So if Spurs are to make any moves it may be then. It will be a manager merry go round with Potter , Rodgers , Poch all available. Poch is down in Spain at the moment with his number 2 Jesus Perez. Could Poch be getting the band back together. We have to wait and see. Personally I would not be going mad seeing Rodgers or Potter take over. They play better football than Conte and change tactics accordingly and they bring on youth which needs to happen at Spurs. The win now manager is not an option. Poch ticks all the boxes and he can hit the ground running with the players. The fan base will be satisfied as well. Levy needs to make a decision here and make it fast because the fans will not put up with this current style of football any longer.

Talk about a madhouse as they have seriously under performed this season and they need help. I think they need a manager who will be firm and none on the list you named jumps out saying hire me. Poch lost the dressing room before and he will lose it again so they need someone who is no pussy.

Think the champions league final had the players drained. Poch needed a sabbatical but dont think they should have god rid completely. Send him away for a year and have him back rejuvinated.

I thought it was an old school stop watch in his pocket but I wasn't paying that much attention.

Dreadful 2nd half performance given the Everton sending off. We just invited them back into the game.

I was listening to the athletic podcast and the host was full sure it was a pager not a stop watch.
