Kumite 4 : UFSea 251 on Fight Island : Usman v Masvidal [12.07.2020]

UFC 251 is the first fight card on Yas Island, Abu Dhabi.

The highly anticipated main fight, Kamaru Usman v. Gilbert Burns has been cancelled because Burns tested positive for Covid.

It was a possibility that Jorge Masvidal would step up but there were a few hurdles to take. The card is already stacked, Masvidal and Dana would have come to an agreement regarding pay, very short notice period and a negative Covid test.

From the looks of it both fighters and the UFC agreed to fight terms. As of now only negative Covid tests stand in the way.

This fight was demanded by the fans for a long time and it is extra important for Masvidal, since he has such a high profile as an MMA fighter and done it for so long, yet this is his first shot at a championship belt.

Both fighters didn't have much time to specifically train for this encounter.
