The Gloom of Nurn, is one of the Nine Nazgûl, recipient of Nitîr (Terror's Sting), one of the nine Rings of Power that were forged for Men. Originally a Númenórean king, his name is lost in time, and he is now known by the most common of his many nicknames.

This is an world-boss encounter on the VIP server for the MMORPG "Lord Of The Rings Online". I am playing on the Mordor server by the way.

On the VIP servers the devs have implemented something called "The Veil Of The Nine" which gives players a chance to encounter one of the Nine fabled Nazgûls. It's sort of like a mini-boss fight.

It can also go horribly wrong. More info here: https://lotro-wiki.com/wiki/Veil_of_the_Nine

Players are not told when these Nazgûls will show up, and when one does spawn players are not told where the bastard is. You should see the world chat channel's like when a Nazgûl appears. Everyone stops. All discussions stop. All banter stops. Alls you can see are people FRANTICALLY using all their computer wizard powers to hunt this Nazgûl down.

When the location of the Nazgûl is found, co-ordinates are given to all players via the World-Chat channel, where players then form mini-raid groups to fuck this mfer up. Some players are pricks though, sending you to false locations or even withholding the Nazgûl's location on the map.

Ring Bearers are needed (these are veteran/experienced players who have obtained a "Ring of Power" from the game); these Bearers have massive hax powers against the Nazgûl, acting as a debuff to this very difficult world boss. More info here: https://lotro-wiki.com/wiki/Rings_of_Power

When you encounter the world boss on location the music just changes, the entire environment changes (skies turn dark, music goes into high octane terror mode). It is very very well presented and this is one of the charms of LOTRO. The devs really did put a lot of effort into showcasing just how terrifying these bastard natty Nazgûls are.

Sometime's the Nazgûls may teleport people to far off distant locations during the encounter. It's randomized i think...and annoying...

It's advised to be at least level 45 before attempting this encounter. One because if too underleveled you aren't really of much help (you barely do any damage); also you won't get the "Mark of Doom" debuff, which grants the players "Morgul Coins" as a reward for taking em out.
