My Actifit Report Card: May 21 2022
Sports day, it’s an attempt to translate a term for a school event that most countries don’t have. I’m guessing, though, for anyone who might be reading this, that the term has little meaning. By that, I mean that if you don’t live in Japan and know what a school sports day entails, you really can’t begin to imagine what this term is referring to.
Suffice it today, for a parent, sports day means walking: walking to and from school, walking around the school grounds, doing your best to get pictures and videos of your kids, and walking some more.
So, with very little effort, a mother or father can easily clock over 10,000 steps on any given sports day in Japan.

Great picture.
Sports day already? I'm usually in Japan for it, but not this year. Kind of gutted thinking about not being there for my youngest. Enjoy it!
The elementary schools in our city either have sports day in spring or fall. My children’s school always has one in May, and it was a perfect day for it yesterday.
I think that when my children were in pre-school the sports day tended to be held in September. I can’t quite remember for sure, though.
Yeah, it’s fun to see how they change and perform differently from year to year as they grow and mature. That’s too bad that you won’t be here to watch your youngest this year.

Basically similar to field day in the States, eh? Except families aren't usually allowed to field day. ...I'm not even sure if schools still do it these days, come to think of it.
Anyway, always a fun but busy day!
